Frostburg State Sophomore Victoria Diggs Named CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Frostburg State sophomore Victoria Diggs was named the CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 12, 2016.

Frostburg State sophomore Victoria Diggs was named the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 21.0 points per game on 62.2% shooting in a 3-0 week for the Bobcats. Diggs also shot a blistering 66.6% from three-point range, draining 12-of-18 three-pointers on the week. Her top performance came in a win over Wesley on Sunday. Diggs finished with 34 points and a school-record-tying seven three-pointers in a 72-65 triumph. Diggs' seven three-pointers were just one shy of tying the CAC single-game record.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport and Mary Washington are ranked in both the WBCA and D3hoops.com national rankings. CNU is ranked No. 10 by the WBCA and No. 11 by D3hoops.com, while UMW is ranked No. 16 in both polls ... UMW (8-0) and CNU (7-0) remain unbeaten on the year ... In CAC action, UMW (4-0), CNU (3-0) and Salisbury (3-0) are unblemished ... CNU is 7-0 for just the fourth time in program history. The Captains three-point defense leads the nation, allowing just 11.6% shooting from beyond the arc ... Mary Washington sophomore Elizabeth Dofflemyer led the Eagles to a pair of CAC wins this week, averaging 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. She scored 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting in a 57-39 win at St. Mary's, adding five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, before scoring 16 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, as UMW topped Marymount, 54-45. In that game, she added six rebounds and four assists ... Marymount freshman Regan Lohr averaged 15.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and and 1.0 steals in a 1-1 week for the Saints. Lohr continued to up her career high in scoring, posting 20 points on Wednesday at Southern Virginia. She currently ranks 19th in the league in scoring with 9.9 points per game, and leads all CAC freshmen in the category ... Nina Haller paced St. Mary's in a 2-1 week, including helping the Seahawks post their first CAC win of the season. Haller started the week with her first double-double of the season on a game- and season-best 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting and a career-best 16 rebounds along with a season-high six blocks. She followed that up with 18 points and five boards against No. 16 Mary Washington. Haller ended the week with nine points and seven caroms in the team's first league victory over Penn State Harrisburg ... In Salisbury's 2-0 week, Lauren Rothfeld led the way with averages of 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game in wins over Catholic and Southern Virginia. Rothfeld sits in second in the CAC this season with 16.8 points per game and first in steals per game at 4.5 ... Southern Virginia senior Morgan Hartvigsen led the Knights with 10 points per game last week, and hit a trio of three-pointers per contest ... Wesley junior Tiyanna Gibbs was all over the court for the Wolverines against Frostburg State, recording 16 points and pulling down 14 rebounds for a double-double. The slashing guard also swiped away two steals, swatted a shot, and dished out an assist in the Wolverines' loss.

Brionna Johnson averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in three games this week helping Wesley to a pair of victories. The senior forward netted 10 points, including the game-winning putback with 1.4 seconds remaining to give Wesley a two-point win over Widener University in the team's season opener.
