FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Wesley junior Stacey O'Neale collected CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Dec. 26, 2017.

Wesley junior Stacey O'Neale collected CAC Player of the Week honors after hitting a school-record nine three-pointers en route to a career-high 29 points in the Wolverines' 66-61 victory over St. Elizabeth. O'Neale was 9-for-11 (81.8%) from beyond the arc, breaking Wesley's previous record of seven set by Kim Smith in the 1999-2000 season. She connected on a pair of key three-pointers in the fourth quarter to give the Wolverines the edge in a back-and-forth game, and drained the game-clinching free throws with 12 seconds remaining. O'Neale also added three rebounds in the victory.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Five CAC teams competed last week ... Christopher Newport is ranked No. 2 in the D3hoops.com and No. 3 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) rankings, while Marymount is No. 24 in the D3hoops.com poll and receiving votes from the WBCA ... CNU competed at the Hoop N' Surf Christmas Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Captains went 1-1 in the tournament, falling for the first time this season to Thomas More before defeating Williamette ... Marymount defeated Stevenson 66-53 in its lone contest of the week, marking the eighth-straight win for the Saints.. Junior Tyfanni McQueen led the Saints with a career-high 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. McQueen leads the CAC and ranks 22nd in the country in FG % (57.3%). She is currently third in the CAC in steals (26) and steals per game (2.89), while sitting ninth in the league in points per game (12.8).
