St. Mary's Junior Megan Gesner and Senior Kate Somerville Sweep CAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors
YORK, Pa. -- St. Mary's swept this week's honors as junior Meg Gesner and senior Kate Somerville were picked as the CAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for March 28, 2016.

St. Mary's junior Meg Gesner earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition after tallying eight goals and one assist in a 3-0 week for St. Mary's. Gesner started the week with a career-best five goals on five shots in an 11-10 win over Catholic, including the game-winner. She then picked up an assist in the Seahawks' first CAC win of the season over Southern Virginia, before wrapping up the week with her sixth hat trick of the year against Roanoke.

St. Mary's senior Kate Somerville was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after collecting seven ground balls, six caused turnovers and two draw controls in a 3-0 week for the Seahawks. In the win over Catholic, Somerville scooped up a career-best five ground balls, caused three turnovers, and grabbed one draw. Against Roanoke, she totaled three caused turnovers, two ground balls, and one draw.

CNU's Meaghan Galvin led the Captains to their seventh-straight victory with a team-high eight points, including five goals, at Frostburg State on Saturday. Her eight points tied her career-high ... Freshman Mackenzie Maguire led Mary Washington with three goals in a 12-8 loss to Salisbury on Saturday. She has posted 29 goals and six assists for the Eagles this season ... Marymount's Bridget Odom pieced together a career week, notching her first career hat trick in a 13-12 victory over Scranton while also posting a career-high six draw controls. The win over Scranton marked a program-record seventh straight victory for the Saints, who had the streak snapped in an 8-6 loss to York on Saturday. Odom once again led the Saints with a career-high four goals vs. York ... Salisbury's Emma Wall led the Sea Gulls to a 12-10 victory over No. 2 Franklin & Marshall with a game-high five goals. Hannah Young notched four ground balls and caused three turnovers in a 12-8 triumph over Mary Washington ... Southern Virginia's Zoe Bradshaw scored a career-high six goals vs. Hood in the Knights' 15-8 victory ... York went 1-1 last week, dropping an 8-7 contest to No. 6 Gettysburg before defeating Marymount 8-6 on the road. Allison Kolacy was key in the comeback win over Marymount with one goal and four assists. For the season, Kolacy leads the Spartans in scoring with 22 points on eight goals and a team-best 14 assists. Megan Strauch notched five draw controls, two caused turnovers, two ground balls and a goal for the Spartans last week. For the year, Strauch has four points on three goals and an assist, 25 ground balls, 20 draw controls, and 10 caused turnovers. She leads the team in ground balls and is second in draw controls and caused turnovers.
