YORK, Pa. -- York freshman Meghan Fox and Mary Washington sophomore Hanna Ashby claimed CAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week accolades for April 3, 2017.

York freshman Meghan Fox was chosen as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying nine goals and two assists in a 3-0 CAC week for the Spartans. Fox opened the week with two goals and an assist in a road win at Frostburg State. She followed that with four goals on six shots in a home win over St. Mary's, before closing out the week with a three-goal, one-assist performance at Marymount. Fox totaled three draw controls and two caused turnovers and shot 52.9% for the week.

Mary Washington sophomore Hanna Ashby was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year after making nine saves in a key 9-6 CAC win at Christopher Newport on Wednesday, and starting the game for UMW in its first shutout since 1987 on Saturday against Southern Virginia. For the week, Ashby posted a 5.30 goals against average and 60.0% save percentage in the pair of victories.

Three CAC teams are ranked in the IWLCA National Rankings, with York at No. 7, Salisbury at No. 13, and Mary Washington at No. 16 ... Christopher Newport senior Meaghan Galvin tallied six goals, six assists, and 12 draw controls in a 1-1 week for the Captains. She became the first player in CNU history to reach 300 career draw controls, and has tied her own single-season program record with 82 ... Frostburg State freshman Nikki Hallikas scored two goals, handed out seven assists, won nine draw controls, and picked up three ground balls as the Bobcats suffered an 0-2 week ... Mary Washington senior Sabrina Elliott led the Eagles with three scores in a 9-6 win at Christopher Newport on Wednesday, and added a goal and an assist on her senior day in a 17-0 Eagle win over Southern Virginia ... Marymount sophomore Jessica Crew had a pair of game-high contests this past week, totaling 12 goals and an assist for 13 points in a 2-1 week for the Saints. Crew leads the CAC in goals with 42, while ranking ninth in the country ... Erika Kopf notched a goal and an assist in each of St. Mary's contests this past week ... Salisbury junior Dana King tallied four goals and four assists in two wins last week. Freshman goalkeeper Skye Graham appeared in two wins for Salisbury last week, collecting the win in an 18-2 victory against Wesley, and working seven shutout minutes against St. Mary's ... Southern Virginia senior Ashley Lessing scored the Knights' opening goal against Marymount and picked up a pair of ground balls last week. Lessing ranks fifth on the team with seven goals this season ... Wesley sophomore Fallon Fore scored eight times on the week and added an assist, seven draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Shelby Schirmer made 45 saves in net for the Wolverines. Schirmer has made 102 saves on the year, good for third-most in the CAC ... York sophomore Nicole Clauter totaled 12 draw controls, caused three turnovers, and collected two ground balls for the Spartans last week. Clauter has picked up a team-leading 39 draw controls in the Spartans' 10 games. She also leads the team in 13 ground balls and with 13 caused turnovers. Meghan Fox leads the Spartans with 32 points on 23 goals and nine assists, and has picked up nine ground balls and collected 12 draw controls.
