FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --  Christopher Newport freshman Riley Cook and Salisbury senior Jamie Tacka were selected as the CAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week for Oct. 9, 2017.   

Offensive Player of the Week

Christopher Newport freshman Riley Cook received CAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season after factoring into five of the eight goals scored by the Captains in a 2-0 week. Cook registered the game-winning goal and notched an assist in a 4-0 win over Frostburg State last Wednesday. On Saturday, she added two goals and an assist in a 4-1 triumph against Southern Virginia. She leads the CAC in goals (11) and points (26) this season. 

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Salisbury senior Jamie Tacka earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Sea Gull defense to a pair of CAC shutout victories last week over St. Mary's and Penn State Harrisburg. Tacka and the SU defense limited its two opponents to a total of just 10 shots and five shots on goal in the wins.

Christopher Newport is ranked in both national polls. The Captains are No. 5 in the D3soccer.com rankings and No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches poll ... CNU and Salisbury remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0 ... Frostburg State junior goalkeeper Emily Faust posted a career-best 11 saves in Frostburg's loss at Christopher Newport. She also stopped seven shots in a 1-0 win over Mary Washington ... Marymount sophomore Jennifer McKee earned her first collegiate goal on Tuesday night, putting away the game winner against Wesley to help the Saints to their first CAC victory of the year. She was one of three first-time goal scorers that night, with junior Madison Grehawick and freshman Sita Nair each adding their first collegiate goals ... St. Mary's freshman Emmey German netted the game-winning goal at 91:52 to lift St. Mary's over Marymount. German leads the Seahawks with five goals and 10 points ... Salisbury sophomore Julianna Boller scored the game-winning goals in both wins last week over St. Mary's and Penn State Harrisburg ... Southern Virginia senior Kora Jewell scored the Knights' only goal against CNU, and also scored the game-winner against Wesley. Jewell ranks second on Knights with four goals ... In her first career matches in net, Wesley freshman Megan Shacklock made nine saves for the Wolverines. Shacklock also recorded a goal in the field against Marymount.
