York Freshman Maddy Mann Claims Second Straight CAC Women's Swimming Weekly Award

YORK, Pa. -- York freshman Maddy Mann was named the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for Nov. 17, 2015.

York freshman Maddy Mann was named the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after breaking a pool record in the 1650 freestyle and collecting four victories and three second-place finishes in a 1-1 week for the Spartans. Mann established a York pool record in the 1,650 freestyle last Wednesday against Messiah, touching with a time of 18:05.90, which broke the pool record by over 28 seconds. Her 1,650 time ranks atop the CAC and eighth nationally. In the Spartans' victory over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, she posted three individual wins in the 1,000 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Four CAC teams competed last week ... In the only CAC matchup last week, St. Mary's defeated Frostburg State 169-91 ... Frostburg State sophomore Macey Nitchie won all three of her individual events against St. Mary's (200-yard free, 50-yard free, 100-yard free), swimming a season-best time in the 200 free (2:00.26) ... Cara Machlin posted a strong weekend for St. Mary's in its 1-1 week. Machlin started the weekend with two golds and a silver in a road loss to Washington College, and followed that up with three golds and a bronze in a win over Frostburg State ... Salisbury's Nicki Schult took first place in the 1000 freestyle against Washington College, winning by a convincing nine-second margin at 11:26.20. Schult also picked up second in the 500-yard freestyle, coming in at 5:39.90.
