FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- Frostburg State senior Macey Nitchie was selected as the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the second straight time on Nov. 7, 2017.

Frostburg State senior Macey Nitchie was selected as the CAC Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row after sweeping her individual events against St. Mary's with wins in the 50, 100 and 500-yard freestyles. Nitchie, who is a perfect 17-for-17 in individual wins this season, finished first in the 50 (24.83), 100 (53.79) and 500-yard freestyles (5:26.20) for the Bobcats. Her 50 and 100 freestyle times rank atop the CAC, while her 100 time is 32nd nationally. She also contributed to a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:56.47.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Four CAC teams competed last week. In the lone CAC matchup of the week, St. Mary's edged Frostburg State 136-126 ... York improved to 5-1 in dual meets with a 124-71 win over Washington & Jefferson, while Salisbury fell to Washington College 138-64 ... St. Mary's freshman Anna LaPoint helped the team to first place finish in 400 yard medley relay against Frostburg State, and individually took first place 200 yard freestyle for the Seahawks ... Salisbury sophomore Emma Tarnosky earned two first-place finishes at Washington College last Wednesday. She recorded a time of 1:07.37 in the 100-yard individual medley, and finished the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.44 ... York freshman Amanda Bley led the Spartans to a dual meet win over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday. Bley captured a pair of wins, touching the wall first in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:13.14 and also won the 500 free with a time of 5:26.43. Bley now has five individual wins and two runner-up finishes for the Spartans. Bley is tied with Maddy Mann and Justine Wantz for the most individual wins on the Spartan squad. Bley's winning 500 time was the fourth best mark in the CAC this year while she also owns the second best time in the 1000 free this season.
