Christopher Newport Senior Jennifer Westerholm and Wesley Freshman Evelina Sloboh Named CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport senior Jennifer Westerholm and Wesley freshman Evelina Sloboh were named CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 26, 2016.

Christopher Newport senior Jennifer Westerholm was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after finishing third overall and first among Division III competitors in the pentathlon at the Captains Invitational with a score of 3,161. That total currently places her fourth in the NCAA. During the combined event, she equaled the meet's top effort in the high jump after clearing 1.59 meters and placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:32.68. Additionally, she posted a time of 9.51 in the 60-hurdles, a distance of 4.99 meters in the long jump, and an 8.22-meter throw in the shot put to round out the pentathlon.

Wesley freshman Evelina Sloboh earned CAC Field Athlete of the Week honors after setting CAC and school records in the 60 meter dash last weekend. Competing at the NYC Gotham Cup, Sloboh raced to a time of 7.81 seconds in the 60 meters, breaking the former conference mark by .01. Her time ranks seventh in the nation this winter.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Four CAC teams competed last week as several squads had to cancel trips due to Winter Storm Jonas ... Penn State Harrisburg's Ashley Williams took first place in the women's 60 meter hurdles at the Susquehanna Orange and Maroon Classic. Williams time ranks 15th in the nation and first in the CAC ... Competing in her first collegiate meet, Wesley's Jourdyn Beverly set a new program record in the weight throw at the Gotham Cup with a toss of 42'-8", crushing the prior Wesley mark by eight feet ... Jess Delviscio registered York's top finish at the Ursinus Invitational, earning fourth place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.40.
