YORK, Pa. -- Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Ashley Williams and Salisbury senior Meghan McGowan were named the CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 31, 2017.

Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Ashley Williams was honored as the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after recording the eighth-best time in the nation in the 60-meter hurdles at the Bison Open at Bucknell. Williams finished third in the event and tops among Division III competitors with a time of 9.06 seconds. Her time ranks atop the CAC this season.

Meghan McGowan | Salisbury | Sr.

Salisbury senior Meghan McGowan was chosen as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after breaking her own school and conference record in the high jump at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason. McGowan posted a height of 1.72 meters (5'-7.75") to earn first place, besting her previous record mark of 1.69 meters (5'-6.5"). Her height currently ranks third in Division III.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All eight CAC indoor track & field squads competed last week, marking the first time of 2017 that all CAC teams were in action ... The CAC Indoor Track & Field Championships are set for Saturday, Feb. 18 at Christopher Newport ... CNU senior Logan Harrington led the Captains with a pair of top-10 efforts at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Saturday at Liberty. She finished seventh overall in both the 800 (2:20.00) and mile (5:13.12). In the mile, she led all Division III competitors ... Frostburg State junior Kayla Truesdel dominated a heavy NCAA Division I and II field at the 18th Annual Bison Open at Bucknell. Truesdel won the 200-meter dash (25.87) and finished fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.86). It marked the fourth straight meet in which Truesdel hit ECAC marks in two different events ... Mary Washington junior Janel Moore broke her own school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.22, good for second place overall, at the George Mason University Patriot Games on Saturday ... Salisbury sophomore Jamie Farley earned three top-10 finishes at George Mason, taking ninth in the 200-meter dash (26.93), fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:00.74), and aiding the 4x400 relay to a fifth-place finish (4:15.44) ... Southern Virginia's Sydney Bigelow ran the 800 meters in 2:34.76 and also competed in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational. Maddie Monzon posted a mark of 3.94 meters in the long jump for the Knights. The meet was the second in program history for the Knights ... Wesley freshman Jasmine Brown notched four top-10 finishes at the Wesley Brown Invitational. Brown finished second in the high jump (1.70m), seventh in the long jump (5.17m), eighth in the triple jump (10.46m) and ninth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.46). Brown's high jump mark ranks fifth in Division III.
