With crowds on hand for Hawktober Festival, the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team grabbed the opportunity to raise funds for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) for Childhood Cancer.

After all was said and done, the Seahawks had raised $1,000 for ALSF.  The players wore yellow T-shirts promoting ALSF and juvenile cancer awareness during warm-ups and sold them during the game as well.

"It was junior Lauren Bennett's idea to fundraise for ALSF.  She had heard they do great work and inspired her team to help out.  The team really pulled together to raise the money; I'm so proud of them.  For this being our first lemonade stand, I think it was a great starting point," explained head coach Katie Lange '06.
