Salisbury Field Hockey Receives NCAA First Round Bye, Selected to Host Regional Tournament

NCAA Bracket

The Salisbury field hockey team learned its NCAA Tournament path late Sunday night, as the Sea Gulls received a first-round bye and the right to host a second/third round regional tournament this weekend, Nov. 15-16.

Eight first-round games will be held on home-team campuses Wednesday, with the winners advancing to four regional weekend tournaments.

The Sea Gulls, who captured their second straight and 18th overall CAC Championship with a 2-1 victory over Christopher Newport on Saturday, will open up the NCAA Tournament on Saturday against either Lynchburg (15-6) or Centre (15-7).

Also joining Salisbury for the four-team regional pod at Sea Gull Stadium will be Wellesley (18-2) and the winner of Wednesday's first-round game between Juniata (14-5) and Gwynedd-Mercy (15-5).

Salisbury enters the NCAA tournament as the top-ranked team in the nation and riding an eight-game winning streak.

The four remaining teams from this weekend's regionals will advance to Washington & Lee for the championship weekend on November 22 and 23.
