Salisbury Sophomore Catherine Sweeney and Senior Jessie Todd Sweep CAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors
YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury swept this week's conference awards as sophomore Catherine Sweeney and senior Jessie Todd collected CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week honors for Sept. 26, 2016.

Salisbury sophomore Catherine Sweeney was selected as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals off the bench in a 2-0 week for the Sea Gulls. Sweeney scored twice against Johns Hopkins, scoring late in the first half and adding the game's only second-half tally. Against No. 9 TCNJ, Sweeney notched Salisbury's second goal in a 3-1 win. She tallied the three goals on just four shots.

Salisbury senior Jessie Todd was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Sea Gulls' defense allow just one goal in wins over Johns Hopkins and No. 9 TCNJ. Todd recorded three defensive saves, all coming in the second half of a 3-1 victory over TCNJ.

Salisbury is ranked No. 5 in the Penn Monto / National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll, with Christopher Newport (No. 17) and Mary Washington (No. 18) also in the top 20 and York one of six teams receiving votes ... CNU's Kana Hashigami registered three points, including a goal, in the second half during the team's 3-1 victory over No. 19 Catholic on Monday ... Frostburg State rolled to a 2-1 week by outscoring opponents 13-3. Lindsay Gardiner finished the week with two goals and one assist ... Freshman Lauren Hopkins scored three goals and added two assists as No. 18 Mary Washington won two of three, with its only loss coming at No. 7 Tufts. Hopkins had two goals in a 4-1 win over Washington & Lee on Wednesday, and added a goal and two assists in a 13-0 win over Framingham State on Sunday. She has nine goals and five assists through nine games for the Eagles ... Megan Moore led St. Mary's to its second win of the season with her game-winning goal at 76:12 in the overtime road win over Sewanee. Moore is second on the team with four goals and nine points ... Wesley's Morgan Seymour recorded five defensive saves last week, and leads the CAC with eight defensive saves on the year ... York shutout No. 17 CNU 2-0 in the first CAC contest of 2016. Lindsay Nye and Ali Posey registered goals for the Spartans, while Sydney LaMarsh spearheaded a Spartan defense that held the Captains to just four shots and two shots-on-goal. Nye has scored a goal in six straight games and has recorded at least one point in all eight games this year. She leads the CAC in scoring (22 points) and goals (10).
