YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington senior Dallas Tarkenton was selected as the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the third time this season on Dec. 6, 2016.

Mary Washington senior Dallas Tarkenton was selected as the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week after leading the Eagles to their first-ever team win at the Gettysburg Invitational last weekend, achieving two NCAA provisional cuts and one Gettysburg Pool record in the process. Tarkenton touched first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:51.40, winning by nearly five full seconds, on Friday. On Saturday, he broke the GC pool record with an NCAA "B" cut in the 100-yard butterfly at 48.62. He also swam on the winning 400 medley relay which helped UMW come from behind in the last race to win the meet. Tarkenton's 200 time in the butterfly currently ranks third in the nation.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Five CAC teams were in action last week, while Frostburg State was idle ... Marymount and St. Mary's competed at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, Mary Washington competed at the Gettysburg Invitational, and Salisbury and York swam in non-conference dual meets ... Frostburg State returns to the pool on January 14 when it hosts York (Pa.) at 1:00 p.m. ... Marymount senior William Bryan set a pair of meet records at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, winning the 100-yard breasstroke (57.78) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.50) in record-breaking fashion. Both times also broke his own program records that Bryan set last season. He is the only Marymount swimmer to sit in the Yellow Jacket Invitational record book ... St. Mary's senior Matt Walchuck earned gold in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.56) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational to lead the Seahawks. Walchuck also claimed fourth in the 100 freestyle and fifth in the 500 freestyle ... Salisbury senior Okan Eyigor posted a thrilling finger-tip finish in the 100-yard backstroke (53.66), just .26 ahead of second-place in the Sea Gulls' 192-70 defeat to Widener. Eyigor also won the 200-yard backstroke, recording a time of 2:00.53 ... Morgan Schreiber picked up a pair of wins as York remained unbeaten with a 150-104 win over Messiah. Schreiber won the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:26.42 and then captured victory in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59. Schreiber owns the top times in the CAC this year in both the 100 and 200 backstroke.
