YORK, Pa. --  Salisbury freshman Branson Oduor was awarded as the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Oct. 4, 2016.

Salisbury freshman Branson Oduor was awarded as the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after capturing the individual title at the 28th Annual Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday. Branson finished with a time of 25:48.74 in the 8k race with an average mile time of 5:11.6. He helped Salisbury to the team title with 27 points, ousting second-place Christopher Newport by 38 points.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport is ranked 30th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Week 2 (9/21) Coaches Poll. The Captains earned 50 points in the poll ... CNU's Grayson Reid broke the school record in the 8k during the Paul Short Run at Lehigh's Goodman Cross Country Course with a time of 24:43, which shaved five seconds off the previous school mark of 24:48 set by Des Proctor during the 1989 NCAA National Championships. That clocking placed him seventh among Division III competitors during the race, trailing only runners from No. 3 Williams, No. 21 St. Lawrence, and No. 31 Tufts. Overall, his efforts helped CNU finish 30th as a team and fourth among D3 programs during the Men's Gold portion of the Paul Short Run ... Frostburg State's Robert Romano took home medalist honors at the Bobcat Invitational after finishing inside the top-five for the third-straight meet. He took third place overall and was the top Division III finisher with a 28:39.37. The Bobcats captured the team win for the third-straight meet ... Junior Kyle Pfohl led  Mary Washington to a second-place finish in the white division at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh on Saturday, placing fifth overall in the race at 26:28 ... Marymount's Joel Juarez placed 27th at Don Cathcart Invitational with a time of 27:21.57.
