YORK, Pa. -- Wesley junior Steph Caracozza and Salisbury senior Rachel Johnson were selected as the CAC Softball Players of the Week for March 16, 2015.

 Wesley junior Steph Caracozza was named the CAC Player of the Week after hitting .607 with a team-high 15 runs scored to lead the Wolverines to a 7-1 week in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Caracozza registered a .645 on-base percentage with three stolen bases, two RBIs, three walks and a triple for the week. She twice went 4-for-4 at the plate and scored three times in each of the final three games of the Wolverines' spring break trip.

Salisbury senior Rachel Johnson was awarded as the CAC Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week after posting a 5-0 record with a 0.46 ERA in a 6-1 week for the Sea Gulls. Johnson started four games and came on in relief twice, striking out 33 batters in her 30.1 innings of work on the hill. Her gem of the week was a complete-game shutout against No. 10 Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday, surrendering just four hits while striking out nine.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury is ranked No. 2 and Christopher Newport No. 10 in the March 11 NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll ... Frostburg State, Southern Virginia and York were idle last week ... Christopher Newport split with Lynchburg and Randolph-Macon last week. Tori Clarke hit .545 with 5 RBIs and two home runs for the Captains ... Mary Washington sophomore catcher Olivia Tatara led the Eagles to a pair of wins with five hits in nine at bats. She scored three runs and added one RBI for the Eagles in a 2-1 week ... Salisbury's Kim Dorsey drilled six extra-base hits to slug 1.176 over seven games this season and lead the Sea Gulls to a 6-1 record ... Wesley's Lily Engel went 4-0 on the mound for the week and did not allow an earned run in three outings.
