Mary Washington senior Ashley Walnut was named the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after helping the Eagles defeat Salisbury and St. Mary's last week with four individual victories and a relay win. She won the 800 freestyle at Salisbury with a time of 9:49.97, and then won the 400 free, touching in 4:45.34. Against the Seahawks, Walnut helped the Eagles stay unbeaten on the year with wins in the 1,000 freestyle at 11:03.00 as well as the 100 freestyle at 55.18. She closed her senior day performance by helping the all-senior 200 free relay team to a first-place finish at 1:43.38.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC teams competed last weekend, including four conference matchups ... Mary Washington (8-0, 4-0 CAC) remains unbeaten on the year, with Salisbury in second place in the CAC standings at 3-1 ... Frostburg State freshman Maddie Weinberger swam to three first-place finishes against York, winning the 200-yard IM (2:20.50) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.70) and swimming the breaststroke leg of the winning 200-medley relay (1:58.72) ... Mary Washington defeated Salisbury 198-63 on Jan. 9 and topped St. Mary's 157-47 this past Saturday ... Salisbury fell to UMW and defeated Marymount 132-73. Victoria Radcliffe won both individual events she competed in, taking first in the 200 freestyle at 2:13.38 and the 100 breaststroke at 1:20.36 ... York went 3-0 last week with victories over Gallaudet (117-62), Penn State Altoona (117-67) and Frostburg State (106-89). Freshman Maddy Mann posted four individual wins and a relay victory throughout the week for the Spartans. In the tri-meet with Gallaudet and Penn State Altoona, she won the 50 freestyle (25.51), 100 freestyle (56.35) and swam leadoff in the 400 freestyle relay. Against FSU, she won the 200 freestyle (2:02.37) and the 500 freestyle (5:32.33).
