Christopher Newport sophomore Johanna Ranta-aho was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after winning her singles and doubles matches in the Captains' 6-3 win over Caltech. At No. 1 singles, Ranta-aho defeated Kana Moriyama 6-4, 6-1. She also paired with Kate Huck from an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles over Julia Reisler and Erin Wang.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All eight CAC teams have now opened their spring 2018 campaigns ... Mary Washington, St. Mary's and Southern Virginia were idle last week ...Frostburg State first-year Ijeoma Uwahemo captured her first collegiate victory as she won at No. 6 singles against Salisbury ... Salisbury freshman Marina Kaiafas went 2-0 in singles play last week week, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 against Stevenson and picking up a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 against Frostburg State. In doubles play, Kaiafas won her only match at No. 3 against Stevenson ... Penn State Harrisburg began its spring season on Sunday in Hilton Head, S.C., and will continue its spring break trip this week ... York also opened its spring campaign last week in Hilton Head.
