Ninth-ranked Salisbury and St. Mary's both won two of three games this weekend to remain tied for first place in the CAC baseball standings. Stevenson also won two of three this weekend by scoring nine runs in the final two innings Sunday for an 11-10 win over Mary Washington.

Greg Ross, 21, a 6-foot-3 right-handed pitcher, was drafted in the 18th round by Atlanta in June after he posted a mark of 11-2 with an ERA of 1.49 this past season for Division III Frostburg State. He was the Capital Athletic Conference player of the year and just the third player in Frostburg history to be drafted by a big league club.

Salisbury University senior pitcher Dustin Herbert and the rest of the baseball team made it quite clear that they did not want Saturday to mark the final day of the 2011 season. In an elimination game against Kean University, Herbert worked 8 1/3 innings while the offense pounded out 14 hits in a 10-3 victory to remain alive at the College World Series.

For the third time in program history, the Salisbury University baseball team is heading to the World Series. The 29th-ranked Sea Gulls needed two wins against the third-ranked team in the nation, Shenandoah University, on Saturday to win the NCAA South Regional and earn the berth into the Division III championship series. As it turns out, Salisbury did just that with 9-8 and 8-7 wins Saturday.

After dropping the opening game of the 2011 NCAA DIII Mideast Regional Tournament, the Frostburg State baseball team faced a do-or-die situation against not only the number one seed in the tournament, but the number one team in the country, Marietta. Despite a strong pitching performance from senior Greg Ross in which he set the single-season school record in strikeouts, the Bobcats dropped their final game of the tournament and the season, 7-2 to the Pioneers, late Thursday night.
