FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Marymount junior Conner Hall and Salisbury senior Austin Heenan were named the CAC Baseball Players of the Week for April 2, 2018.

Marymount junior Conner Hall received the CAC Player of the Week accolades after hitting .647 and registering at least two hits, one RBI and one run scored in all four games for the Saints last week. Hall went 11-for-17 at the plate with five doubles, one home run, nine RBIs, two walks, five runs scored and three stolen bases in a 2-2 week for Marymount. His top performance came during Saturday's CAC doubleheader with St. Mary's, as he went 7-for-9, including a perfect 5-for-5 performance in game two, with four doubles, a home run, seven RBIs and three runs scored in the twinbill sweep. He leads the CAC in doubles (17) this season, ranks second in batting average (.468) and third in hits (36). His 0.81 doubles per game ranks him in the top five in the country.

Salisbury senior Austin Heenan was selected as the CAC Pitcher of the Week after recording 17 strikeouts and not allowing any earned runs in a pair of wins last week. Heenan posted 7.0-inning outings in wins over Franklin & Marshall and No. 11 Frostburg State. He allowed only seven hits in his 14 innings on the mound.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

In the D3baseball.com week 4 rankings, Christopher Newport is No. 9 and Frostburg State is ranked No. 11 ... In the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll, Christopher Newport is No. 7 and Frostburg State is No. 17 ... Christopher Newport senior Brandon Ginch had three multi-hit games in four wins for the Captains last week, reaching base in 13 of 20 plate appearances. Ginch blasted a pair of home runs in wins at York and helped CNU run its winning streak to 14, marking the second-longest winning streak in program history. Sophomore lefthander Brian Owens appeared in all four games for CNU lastweek, picking up a pair of wins and a three-inning save along the way ... Frostburg State senior Matt Bougourd went 10-for-20 at the plate and tied the single-game school record with five hits against Southern Virginia. Bougourd recorded multiple hits in three of four games this week. For the year, he ranks fourth in the CAC in batting average (.405), is tied for 12th in RBIs (20) and is tied for fifth in doubles (8). Sophomore Mike Livingston closed out the game for Frostburg State with 5.0 innings of relief work in an 8-5 victory over Southern Virginia last Thursday. He boasts a 2-0 record with three saves this season and lowered his ERA to just 1.62 with his latest relief outing ... Junior Hank Biggs led Mary Washington to a win in game two of their Saturday doubleheader at Wesley, gaining the win after seven innings of four-hit ball. Biggs, who missed much of the first month of the season, improved to 2-0 in CAC play by allowing one run on four hits, with five strikeouts and two walks allowed.He is 2-0 with six runs allowed in 13 innings with 11 strikeouts in two league starts. Senior Mark Smith helped Mary Washington to three CAC wins in four contests this week, notching six hits in 11 at bats for a .545 average. He had a pinch single and scored the winning run in a 4-3 win over Southern Virginia, and sent 5-9 at Wesley in a twinbill with a double, home run, six RBI, and two runs scored. His home run in game one against the Wolverines put UMW ahead to stay ... Marymount senior pitcher Dylan Gerdts tossed a scoreless seven innings against St. Mary's on Saturday, giving up just four hits and two walks while striking out seven to earn the win on the mound. Gerdts has now tossed 35.1 innings this season for a 3.57 ERA and 34 strikeouts ... Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Brett Williams went 5-for-16 at the plate last week with six RBIs, a triple and two home runs in a 4-1 week for the Lions that included wins over Gettysburg, Marymount, and Southern Virginia. Williams solo home run in game one against Gettysburg tied the game in seventh inning, setting the stage for the Lions walk-off win. Williams had a busy day against Marymount in Harrisburg's CAC opener, blasting a three-run home run in the second inning. Williams would later add a triple and would be intentionally walked in the 8th inning with runners on base ... Jay Hammett put on a solid week for St. Mary's as the Seahawks notched a 2-3 record. Hammett hit safely in all five games to extend his hit streak to 10 while stretching his reached base streak to 11. His best game of the week was a 4-of-4 effort in the second game at Marymount as he finished with a career-best four hits. Hammett also picked up his first career save in just his fourth career appearance. He retired the side in order to preserve St. Mary's win at Gallaudet. In his second appearance of the season, St. Mary's Noah Meyers notched his first career win, scattering two hits and striking out one Gallaudet batter in the eighth for the one-run road win ... Salisbury junior Jack Barry hit .400 for the week and helped his team collect four wins by scoring seven runs, including hitting his first home run of the season ... Southern Virginia freshman Dalin Stanton went 2-for-3 and recorded three RBIs in the 6-2 win over Penn State Harrisburg. Senior pitcher Tayler Peterson earned his second straight CAC win of the season without allowing a run, striking out four in 6.0 innings ... Wesley senior Alex Marrs struck out six and only allowed seven hits, three walks and two runs in his seven-inning start against Salisbury ... York junior Grant Oberholtzer hit .619 in four games this past week including a trio of games against teams ranked in the top-10 nationally. In the win over St. Mary's, Oberholtzer was 1-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. He followed that with a career-high five hits and a career-high five runs scored in the tie against No. 10 Randolph-Macon. He added a triple, a home run and three RBI in the game against the Yellow Jackets. In the opener against CNU, Oberholtzer was 4-for-5 with three runs scored, a home run and an RBI from the top of the Spartan lineup. He added three hits, a double and three RBI in the nightcap against the Captains. For the week, Oberholtzer hit .619 with 10 runs scored, one double, one triple, two home runs, and eight RBI. He had a .652 on base percentage and slugged at 1.048. Will Grega earned York's lone win of the week on the mound as he picked up a victory over St. Mary's on Wednesday. Grega tossed seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits with five strikeouts and zero walks. Grega improved to 2-2 as he has a 3.38 ERA as opponents are hitting .286 against him. Grega has struck out 20 in 24.0 innings of work.
