FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Christopher Newport freshman Tyler Iriondo and St. Mary's senior Conner Campbell were selected as the CAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for April 23, 2018.  

Offensive Player of the Week

Christopher Newport freshman Tyler Iriondo was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after going a perfect 12-for-12 in his faceoff attempts in the Captains' win over Wesley. His 12 victories marked the most by a Captain in a perfect game effort in program history. They also marked the most by any player in the CAC during a perfect game since Marymount's Vince Lodato went 14-for-14 against Southern Virginia on March 15, 2014. Along with his 12 faceoff victories, Iriondo also secured six ground balls. That total marked the highest single-game total by a CNU freshman since Tony Cruz plucked eight at Mary Washington on April 1, 2015.

St. Mary's senior Conner Campbell earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after matching his career-high of seven caused turnovers while also scooping up five ground balls in a 12-5 victory over Wesley in the Seahawks' only game of the week. Campbell currently leads the CAC with 47 caused turnovers.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Wednesday marks the final day of the CAC regular season ... York has secured the No. 1 seed in the CAC Tournament, while Salisbury is locked into the No. 2 seed and Christopher Newport will be the No. 3 seed. Seeds No. 4-6 are still up for grabs entering Wednesday's regular season finales ... York is ranked No. 2, Salisbury is ranked No. 7, and Christopher Newport is ranked No. 16 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) rankings ... Frostburg State senior Daniel Paladino scored a goal in loses to York and Salisbury last week ... Marymount junior Sean Friedman went off for an eight-point week in two games, sending out two assists against No. 7 Salisbury before erupting for six points in a victory over Mary Washington on Saturday. Of his six points, five were assists, a career-high for the junior midfielder ... Max Groen led St. Mary's to a win in its only game of the week as Groen notched four goals, including his conference-leading ninth man-up goal, for his second hat trick of the season. He also added a season-best five ground balls in the Seahawks' 12-5 win over Wesley ... Salisbury defeated Marymount and Frostburg State last week. Kevin Murphy scooped up a combined 10 groundballs including a team-high six in the win over the Bobcats. Murphy also tallied a career-high five caused turnovers in the 17-2 victory, passing his previous mark of four from last week. Murphy helped anchor a defensive performance that held Frostburg State scoreless for nearly 38 minutes of game time. Griffin Moroney totaled nine points last week on eight goals and one assists, including a career-high six scores vs. Frostburg State. Since the calendar has flipped to April, Moroney has netted 15 goals and totaled 18 points ... Southern Virginia freshman Tennison Schmidt led the Knights with two goals at No. 2 York, and is now third on the team with 30 goals on the season ... York junior face off specialist Billy Sasso was 28-for-36 at the X with 16 ground balls and one goal as the Spartans have now won 11 straight. Junior Hunter Davis notched nine points on seven goals and two assists with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. He scored his seven goals on just nine shots.
