St. Mary's Junior Zach Fontenot and Mary Washington Sophomore Matt Spencer Secure CAC Men's Soccer Weekly Honors
YORK, Pa. -- St. Mary's junior Zach Fontenot and Mary Washington sophomore Matt Spencer were named the CAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week for Nov. 2, 2015.

St. Mary's junior Zach Fontenot was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after posting two goals and an assist in two games last week, helping the Seahawks secure a playoff spot and a CAC Tournament first-round victory. Fontenot began the week with the game-winning goal and an assist in a 2-0 win at York, which propelled the Seahawks into the postseason as the No. 6 seed. In a 3-2 win over Wesley on Saturday in the first round of the CAC Tournament, he scored the first goal for St. Mary's early in the second half to even the game at 1-1.

Mary Washington sophomore Matt Spencer earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this year after helping the Eagles advance to the CAC semifinals with a shutout in net last Saturday. Spencer opened the week by recording 45 minutes of scoreless play in a 6-0 win at Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday. He followed that up by blanking Christopher Newport for 110 minutes of play in a double overtime shutout. Spencer capped the day by stopping the last penalty kick to give the Eagles the advancement after 13 rounds in the shootout. In the process, he set the UMW school record for season shutouts with his 10th solo shutout of the year. His 10 shutouts ranks first in the conference.

Salisbury posted two shutouts last week, allowing just six shots. The Sea Gulls clinched the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in the CAC postseason with a 2-0 win over Wesley last Wednesday.
