FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Frostburg State first-year Amber Keene and CNU junior Aubrey Bates were selected CAC Softball Players of the Week for March 25, 2019.

Frostburg State first-year Amber Keene hit .588 with 10 hits and eight RBI as Frostburg won four of its six games last week ... She opened the week with three hits and three RBI in a win over Southern Vermont.

Christopher Newport junior pitcher Aubrey Bates improved to 7-1 on Sunday by pitching all eight innings vs. top-ranked Virginia Wesleyan in a 2-1 CNU victory. The Captains are now 16-2 following a split with the Marlins, and had a 15-game winning streak snapped in the opening game of the twin bill. This marks the third consecutive week Bates has earned this honor.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

York's Ginger Lewis had a solid week in the circle for the Spartans going 2-1 with two complete games. Lewis tossed 14.0 innings and posted a 2.50 ERA while striking out 15 batters on the week...Salisbury's Alexis Layton earned the victory in Salisbury's 7-6 win against Ursinus on Saturday. She worked 6 1/3 innings in her start, giving up just three earned runs while striking out three and walking none...Southern Virginia's Megan Harmon led the Knights to their first sweep of the season in a doubleheader over Roanoke College. On the mound, she produced 16 strikeouts and recorded a 1.94 ERA while throwing two complete games...York's Mia Ruffalo had a spectacular week for the Spartans in a 3-1 week for the Green and White. Ruffalo hit .545 on 6-for-11 hitting with a double and a pair of homeruns good for a 1.182 slugging percentage for the week. She also had 4 RBI, scored 5 runs, and stole a base while going a perfect 11-for-11 in the field...Salisbury's Dakotah Fraley reached base in five of nine plate appearances in a doubleheader split with Ursinus on Saturday, getting four hits and a walk. She belted a doubles and a home run in the doubledip and had a stolen base...Hannah Bruns led Mary Washington with a .533 average this week, with eight hits and 15 at bats, with three doubles, three runs scored, and two RBI… Freshman Juliet Truslow won both of her starts this week, topping Gettysburg and Shenandoah. In the 12-4 win over Gettysburg, she allowed three hits and three earned runs in five innings with three walks and three strikeouts. In her win over Shenandoah, she scattered seven hits in seven innings, in a 4-0 shutout win. She walked three and struck out three. Her ERA for the week was 1.75...Southern Virginia's Heather Terranova starred in the Knights lineup hitting .467 going 7-15 with two doubles, a triple, a pair of homers and six RBI's. She has been the ultimate leadoff hitter for Southern Virginia, she has not struck out the entire season.
