YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Jessica Daguilh was awarded as the CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 19, 2016.

Christopher Newport sophomore Jessica Daguilh was awarded as the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 62.5% (15-for-24) from the floor in a 2-0 week for the unbeaten Captains. Her top performance of the week came in Saturday's CAC road win over Salisbury, as she posted 20 points, includig 16 in the second half, and also grabbed eight boards. She added 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game throughout the week.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport and Mary Washington are ranked in both the WBCA and D3hoops.com national rankings. In both polls, CNU is ranked No. 10 and UMW is ranked No. 14 ... UMW (9-0, 4-0 CAC) and CNU (9-0, 4-0 CAC) remain unbeaten on the year ... Six CAC teams competed last week, with only two CAC matchups on the slate ... Marymout, Penn State Harrisburg, and St. Mary's will compete this week in non-conference action ... CNU is undefeated through nine games for the third time in program history ... Frostburg State returns to action on Monday, Jan. 2 at Eastern Mennonite at 3 p.m. ... In Salisbury's lone game last week, junior Mary McDonagh tallied a season-high 18 points against No. 10 CNU via 4-for-7 shooting from three-point range. In addition to the 18 points, McDonagh added five rebounds and four assists ... Wesley's Brionna Johnson averaged 12 points and eight rebounds in the Wolverines' two losses last week. The senior pulled down a double-double against York with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Brionna Johnson averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in three games this week helping Wesley to a pair of victories. The senior forward netted 10 points, including the game-winning putback with 1.4 seconds remaining to give Wesley a two-point win over Widener University in the team's season opener.
