Salisbury Junior Gabbi Nieves and Sophomore Gianna Falcone Sweep CAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors
YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury swept this week's awards as junior Gabbi Nieves and sophomore Gianna Falcone received CAC Women's Lacrosse weekly accolades for April 11, 2016.

Salisbury junior Gabbi Nieves was honored as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling five goals and two assists in victories over nationally-ranked Christopher Newport and St. Mary's last week, helping the Sea Gulls clinch the No. 1 seed in the CAC Tournament. Nieves scored a game-high four goals to lead the Sea Gulls past CNU last Tuesday, before notching a goal and two assists in a triumph over St. Mary's.

Salisbury sophomore Gianna Falcone was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year after posting a 4.50 goals against average and a 62.5% save percentage in key CAC wins over Christopher Newport and St. Mary's. Against CNU, Falcone tallied six saves and surrendered just six goals. Against St. Mary's, she allowed just three goals while turning away nine shots.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Just one week remains in the CAC regular season, and the six-team CAC Tournament field is set. Salisbury (7-0 CAC) will once again host a semifinal as the top seed, while CNU (5-1), St. Mary's (4-2), Mary Washington (4-2), York (4-3) and Marymount (3-3) have each clinched playoff spots and will battle for the remaining seeds ... Five CAC teams are ranked in both national polls ... In the IWLCA National Rankings, Salisbury is No. 4, Mary Washington is No. 13, St. Mary's is No. 14, Christopher Newport is No. 15, and York is No. 17 ... In the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Rankings, Salisbury is No. 3, Christopher Newport is No. 14, St. Mary's is No. 15, Mary Washington is No. 16, and York is No. 17 ... CNU's Sarah Culver tied for the team lead with five goals during the week, including two against Salisbury on Tuesday. Culver also came through with her seventh hat-trick of the season at Marymount on Saturday ... Frostburg State junior Megan Hart scored five goals and handed out one assist as the Bobcats finished 1-1 last week ... Mary Washington senior Ashlyn Dacey turned in an excellent effort in the Eagles' lone game of the week, an 11-10 loss at St. Mary's. She scored five goals and added an assist to the Eagle attack, accounting for more than half of the offense ... Marymount's Abby Wescott tallied a nine-point week to help the Saints to a 1-1 record. For her two-year career, Wescott now has 57 assists, moving her into second in program history as a sophomore, just four assists shy of the record. Addtionally, senior Stephanie Keane notched a nine-point week, including seven goals, through the two games ... St. Mary's Shelby Newman scored twice against Mary Washington, including netting the game-winning goal off a free position shot with 1:56 remaining ... Southern Virginia's Zoe Bradshaw scored six goals in a win over Chowan. She is seventh in the CAC in goals scored with 33 ... Wesley's Savannah Clough made 28 saves in two games last week. Clough has made double-digit saves in nine of the Wolverines' 13 games and leads the conference in saves with 159.
