YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington senior Taylor Diffley secured CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors for March 22, 2017.

Mary Washington senior Taylor Diffley was picked as the CAC Player of the Week for the second time in 2016-17 after turning in a perfect week for the Eagles in wins over nationally-ranked Skidmore and Whitman as well as Bates at the Blue Grey Invitational. She went 3-0 at No. 2 singles and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles. In singles play, she topped Madie Benn of Skidmore, 6-4, 6-3, then topped Mary Hill of Whitman, 6-2, 6-0. She ended the weekend with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 win over Elizabeth Erbafina of Bates on Sunday. She teamed with Kait Brogan at No. 1 doubles to record an 8-6 win over Skidmore in a 5-4 team win, then an 8-6 win over Whitman. She ended on Sunday with an 8-4 win at the No. 1 spot over Bates. She is 10-1 in singles this spring, and 11-1 in doubles.

In the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, Mary Washington is No. 15 and Christopher Newport is No. 24 ... CNU freshman Johanna Ranta-aho won all four of her matches last week at No. 2 singles and doubles in team victories over Centre and Methodist. She defeated Centre's Aliza Williams (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) and Methodist's Jenna Landis (6-0, 6-1) in singles play, and paired with Kate Huck for an 8-0 win in doubles over Centre and an 8-3 victory against Methodist's No. 2 pair ... Salisbury opened its annual spring break trip to California this past weekend. Freshman Annika Kezman won two matches in a narrow 5-4 loss to St. Lawrence to begin the trip. Kezman won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles with classmate Julia Kwedi and added one of the team's two singles wins. She claimed a three-set win in singles, coming out victorious 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 at the No. 1 position ... Southern Virginia went 1-1 last week with a 6-3 CAC win over Penn State Harrisburg. Freshman Natalie Teets won at No. 5 singles against Virginia State, 6-0, 6-1, and captured a No. 4 singles win against Penn State Harrisburg, 6-0, 6-0. She also teamed with Anna Bowers for an 8-4 No. 2 doubles victory against Penn State Harrisburg.
