YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Logan Harrington and Salisbury sophomore Ashley Jackson receive CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for March 31, 2015.

Christopher Newport sophomore Logan Harrington was selected as CAC Track Athlete of the Week after taking top honors in the 800 meters during the Fred Hardy Invitational this past weekend. Harrington won the race with a time of 2:13.42 in a field of 39 competitors, including 25 Division I athletes. That time ranks first in the conference and fifth in the nation so far this season. Her time just missed matching her CAC record time of 2:12.83 set last year. This was the first time Harrington has run the 800 since competing in the event during the 2014 NCAA Championships.

Salisbury sophomore Ashley Jackson was selected as this week's CAC Field Athlete of the Week after helping the Sea Gull women to a second-place finish in the Big Dawg Invitational on Saturday. Ashley set a new school record in the triple jump with a 36'-9.5" leap that took first place in the event. Her jump ranks first in the conference and 14th in the nation. Jackson went on to take second place in the long jump with a leap of 16'-10".

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Six of the seven CAC track & field teams competed in events this past weekend ... Frostburg State freshman Kayla Truesdel posted two wins at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna on Sunday, winning both the 100 (13.21) and 200-meter dashes (26.45) ... Mary Washington senior Claire Harrington took top honors in the pole vault at the UMBC Big Dawg Invitational on Saturday. Her jump of 3.15 meters topped all contestants in the event ... Wesley's Taylor Rae Danforth won pole vault at the Towson Invitational with a mark of 10'-08.75", breaking her own school-record and placing fifth. She was also just 16 centimeters short of the school's hammer throw record, tossing a personal-record 107'-08.00".
