Christopher Newport's Logan Harrington and Hannah Bowden Sweep CAC Women's Track & Field Weekly Awards

YORK, Pa. -- The Christopher Newport duo of senior Logan Harrington and sophomore Hannah Bowden swept the CAC Women's Track & Field weekly awards for Feb. 7, 2017.

Christopher Newprot senior Logan Harrington was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after registering the CAC's top time in the 800 meters this year with a time of 2:16.98 at the Vince Brown Invitational on Saturday at the Freeman Center. That clocking is over eight seconds faster than the next closest in the CAC this season and ranks 13th in the NCAA. With that performance, she finished second overall and first among collegiate competitors.

Christopher Newport sophomore Hannah Bowden received CAC Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this year after registering a CAC-best mark in the long jump at the Vince Brown Invitational on Saturday at the Freeman Center. Bowden posted a mark of 5.32 meters, placing her sixth overall and first among Division III competitors. So far this year, it ranks first in the CAC by six inches, second in the South / Southeast Region and 46th nationally. Additionally, she finished seventh overall - and second among Division III runners - in the 60-hurdles while posting a season-best time of 9.16. That also ranks third in the CAC this year.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Five CAC indoor track & field squads wrapped up their indoor campaigns last week, while Frostburg State, Salisbury, and Southern Virginia will compete in their final tune-ups this weekend for the upcoming CAC Indoor Championships ... The CAC Indoor Track & Field Championships are set for Saturday, Feb. 18 at Christopher Newport ... Frostburg State junior Kayla Truesdel put together another strong showing by recording two more Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying times in both the 60 and 200-meter dashes at the SU Challenge at Susquehanna. Truesdel remained unbeaten in the 200-meter dash this season by winning with a mark of 26.17, her fifth victory of the winter, and also took second place in the 60-meter finals while matching her season best time of 7.85 seconds ... Salisbury freshman Kyleigh Dumas captured the Sea Gulls only win on the women's side at the Vince Brown Invitational on Saturday. Dumas earned a first-place finish in the pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 10'-10". Freshman Abby Potter finished third in the 3,000 meters (11:22.25) for the Sea Gulls ... Wesley competed at the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus. Angel Hall collected four top-five finishes, contributing to the winning 4x200 relay (1:46.62), and second-place 4x400 relay (4:06.28), and also notching third in the 60-meter dash (8.00) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (26.56). Jasmine Brown placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.43), fourth in the high jump (1.60m) and fifth in the triple jump (10.79m) for the Wolverines ... York junior Ericka Quenzer broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles at the SU Challenge at Susquehanna on Friday. Quenzer crossed the line in a time of 9.42, breaking her previous record by almost a full second. She was just slightly slower in the finals as she posted a time of 9.43 to finish second.
