YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport junior Briana Sutton was chosen as the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 20, 2015.

Christopher Newport junior Briana Sutton was chosen as the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season after posting a pair of double-doubles in a 4-0 week for the Captains that included a trio of CAC victories. Sutton's top performance of the week came at St. Mary's on Sunday, as she recorded 19 kills and 17 digs to help CNU to a key 3-2 win. She also registered a double-double against Mary Washington earlier in the week with 14 digs and 10 kills. She averaged 3.21 kills and 3.00 digs per set during the week while also adding four total blocks.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport remained ranked No. 4 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Week 6 Top-25, released last Tuesday. Mary Washington was just outside the top-25, receiving 8 votes ... In a 2-1 week for Frostburg State, Naya Cheatem smacked 49 kills and averaged 5.44 kills per set. She also added 31 digs and four blocks. The Bobcats swept past Southern Virginia and Wesley for their first two conference wins of the year ... Mary Washington dropped its only match of the week, at CNU. Freshman Leslie Walters had seven kills and four digs for the Eagles ... Marymount went 1-1 last week with a loss to St. Mary's and a victory over York. Junior Emileigh Rettig posted a career-high 20 kills and York while hitting .375 and added 15 digs and three total blocks ... Alli Graf helped St. Mary's to a 1-1 week, tallying a match-best 15 kills as the Seahawks defeated Marymount for the first time since 2011. She then paced the Seahawks in a hard-fought battle with CNU, registering 14 kills and 18 digs for her 10th double-double of the season ... Katie Stouffer led Salisbury on the week with 28 kills, helping the Sea Gulls to two 3-0 sweeps over Wesley and Southern Virginia. She averaged a .444 hitting percentage in the two matches, while leading the team with 18 kills against the Knights ... Brooke Krebs led York to a 1-1 week with averages of 3.38 kills and 2.63 digs per set, recording double-doubles in both matches.
