Salisbury's Katie Stouffer Selected as CAC Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year

YORK, Pa. – Salisbury University senior volleyball outside hitter Katie Stouffer (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) was selected by the Capital Athletic Conference athletic directors as the 2016-17 Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Stouffer was a early childhood education & elementary education major who graduated with a 3.97 cumulative grade point average. She earned a lengthy list of academic accolades throughout her career, highlighted by back-to-back CoSIDA Academic All-America awards in 2015 and 2016. She was also an annual member of the Dean's List at SU and the CAC All-Academic Team.

Off the court, Stouffer was heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Student-Athletes and served as a mentor for high schoolers. She was also a part of Relay for Life all four years at SU, was an adult education tutor and day care volunteer, and was involved in a holiday family sponsor program to donate food and clothing to local families in need.

She wrapped up a stellar playing career this past fall by earning All-America Third Team honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), CAC Player of the Year, and ECAC Offensive Player of the Year accolades. She was a four-time First Team All-CAC selection, three-time AVCA All-Region pick and two-time AVCA All-American.

She completed her senior season with 444 kills and a CAC best 4.48 kills per set. Stouffer also ranked 25th nationally in kills and 12th in the nation in kills per set. In 2016, she became Salisbury's all-time leader in kills for a career surpassing 2009 graduate Stacey Krebs (1,734) setting a new mark with 1,747.

Stouffer is the sixth Salisbury student-athlete to win the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year award since its inception in 1992. Other Salisbury winners include Gina Dean (2000, field hockey), Amy Campion (2003, basketball), Kim Rementer (2005, softball), Sue Ackermann (2008, lacrosse), and Rachel Johnson (2015, softball).
