Marymount Sophomore Ahmed Elmanialaway and Salisbury Junior Drew Staedeli Named CAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Marymount sophomore Ahmed Elmanialaway and Salisbury junior Drew Staedeli earned CAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors for Sept. 22, 2014.

Marymount sophomore Ahmed Elmanialaway was picked as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying a hat trick in the Saints victory over Shenadoah last Wednesday. Elmanailaway notched the eventual game-winner in the 28th minute of play to give Marymount a 1-0 advantage, and later secured his second hat trick of the year with two scores following halftime.

Salisbury junior Drew Staedeli was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording two shutouts this past week as the Sea Gulls went 1-0-1. With the Sea Gulls leading 1-0 against Washington College, he made an impressive diving save to keep the Shoremen off the board and help collect the victory. Against William Paterson he made five saves, one shy of a career high. He totaled seven saves for the week.

Christopher Newport is ranked #11 and Salisbury #23 in last week's NSCAA National Rankings ... Salisbury (#12) and CNU (#13) are also ranked in the D3soccer.com top 25 ... Christopher Newport has scored multiple goals after halftime six times this season. The Captains have scored 17 of their 23 goals after intermission. Senior Jalon Brown now has 15 points on the year, tying him for the league lead. His four points last week moved him past the 100-point plateau for his career, becoming just the fifth player in program history to reach the mark ... Riley Fisher scored a second half goal, but Mary Washington fell at N.C. Wesleyan in its only action this week, 3-1 ... Penn State Harrisburg posted wins over Marywood and Washington Adventist. Aaron Kline tallied two scores in the win over Washington Adventist ... Salisbury senior Matt Greene scored the game-winning goal five minutes into the second half against Washington College. With the goal, he tied a program record set in 2009 by Kyle Sterling of points in consecutive matches to open a season with six ...
