York junior Morgan Schreiber was named the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week after posting five individual wins and contributing to four relay victories in a 6-0 stretch for the unbeaten Spartans. In a 116-89 win over Washington College, Schreiber touched first in the 200 IM (2:00.83) and 100 backstroke (54.47) and swam the leadoff leg of the winning 200 medley relay. In a 128-76 triumph over Randolph-Macon, Schreiber captured top honors in the 200 backstroke (2:00.05) and swam leadoff in the victorious 400 medley relay squad. In a CAC victory over Frostburg State, he took gold in the 100 backstroke (1:01.16) and 200 backstroke (2:18.80) and again led off the winning 200 medley relay, which touched in 1:52.43. Shreiber leads the Spartans this season with 13 individual wins and owns the top times in the CAC in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC men's swimming teams have opened the 2017 portion of their schedules ... The CAC Championships are set for Feb. 17-19 at St. Mary's ... Junior Christian March registered two wins as Frostburg State opened the 2017 schedule with a meet at home against both York and Salem International. March posted victories in the 50-meter freestyle (24.61) and 200-meter breaststroke (2:35.97) and was runner-up in the 100-meter freestyle (55.66) ... Junior Kenyon Huber-Wilker won two individual races for Mary Washington in its CAC win at St. Mary's on Saturday. He took first in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:01.20, and came back to win the 200 breaststroke at 2:16.25 ... Marymount defeated Salisbury 137-120 on Saturday, improving to 2-1 in CAC action. William Bryan won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.01) and helped top finishes for the Saints in the 400 medley relay (3:39.15) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:22.61) ... Salisbury senior Okan Eyigor secured a trio of first-place finishes over the weekend, winning the 100-yard backstroke (57.07), 200-yard backstroke (2:07.83), and 200-yard IM (2:04.18).
