York Senior Matt Rosenkrantz Earns CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- York senior Matt Rosenkrantz was named the CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for April 21, 2015.

York senior Matt Rosenkrantz earned CAC Player of the Week honors after going a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play last week, helping the Spartans advance to the CAC semifinals. In Tuesday's regular season finale at Penn State Harrisburg, Rosenkrantz combined with Jake Greenstein to earn an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before claiming a 6-1, 6-4 win in the third singles match. In the opening round of the CAC Tournament, Rosenkrantz again combined with Greenstein, this time to earn a 9-7 second doubles win. He then earned a 6-1, 6-3 win in third singles to help the Spartans advance to the CAC semifinals at Mary Washington on Tuesday.

No. 5 York defeated No. 4 Penn State Harrisburg 6-3 in the opening round of the CAC Tournament on Saturday ... The semifinals are set for Tuesday, with No. 1 Mary Washington hosting No. 5 York, and No. 2 Salisbury hosting No. 3 Christopher Newport ... In the most recent ITA National Rankings (April 9), Mary Washington moved up one spot to No. 18 and Christopher Newport jumped two spots to No. 37 ... In the ITA Atlantic South Regional Rankings, Mary Washington is No. 4, Salisbury is No. 9 and Christopher Newport is No. 10 ... Five CAC players are ranked in Atlantic South Singles top-25 - Mary Washington's Tyler Carey (No. 5), CNU's David Reed (No. 14), UMW's Stratton Gilmore (No. 16), Salisbury's Daniel Albers (No. 22) and Salisbury's Eric Spangler (No. 25) ... Four doubles tandems are also regionally ranked - UMW's Carey & Evan Charles (No. 2), Salisbury's Albers & Eric Spangler (No. 6), UMW's Gilmore & Brandon Griffin (No. 9), and CNU's Reed & Justin Cerny (No. 11) ... Mary Washington junior David Lunding-Johansson was a two-time winner for the 18th-ranked Eagles in a 5-4 loss at 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins on Saturday. He won at three singles, 6-4, 6-3, and also took a point at three doubles, as he and Andrew Curtis won, 8-3. He is 14-4 in singles this spring, and is 13-3 in doubles play ... Salisbury's Sean Ngo was the difference maker in the Sea Gulls earning the No. 2 seed in this week's CAC tournament, capturing the fifth and deciding point in a 5-4 win against No. 37 Christopher Newport last Thursday. With the match knotted at 4-4 and No. 5 singles the lone undecided point, Ngo rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory to give Salisbury the win.
