YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport swept this week's awards as juniors Jeff Dover and Brendon Burrows collected CAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week accolades for April 4, 2017.

Christopher Newport junior Jeff Dover earned CAC Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this year after breaking two records at the Colonial Relays over the weekend at William & Mary. On Friday, he established a new CAC record in the 1500 meters, crossing in 3:50.83. His time shaved a full second off the previous CAC mark of 3:51.83, set by Salisbury's George Martinez in 2016. He finished fourth overall and first among DIII competitors in the 1500. It also marked the second-fastest clocking in CNU history and equaled the second-fastest mark in the NCAA this year. On Saturday, Dover returned to the track for another record-setting run as a member of the 4x1500. He helped lead CNU's top foursome to a time of 16:02.20, which beat the previous school record of 16:03.41, which was set last year. It also marked the sixth-fastest clocking at the meet and the finest effort by a Division III squad.

Christopher Newport junior Brendon Burrows was tabbed as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after climbing into the top-10 nationally in the discus at the Colonial Relays on Saturday. He placed eighth overall and first among DIII competitors in the discus with a throw of 48.70 meters, moving him to eighth in the NCAA this season.

All eight CAC track & field teams competed last week ... Frostburg State senior J.R. Lowery posted two more wins and two more Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) marks in the hammer throw and shot put at the Bobcat Invitational. Lowery hit a distance of 49.99 meters (164 ft.) in the hammer, and also notched a distance of 16.80 meters (55 ft. 1 in.) in the shot put. Senior Hossein Hakimi finished with three wins and a runner-up showing at the Bobcat Invitational, winning the 400 meters (51.48), anchoring the first-place 4x400 relay (3:32.60), and helping the 4x100 relay (43.81) to a victory ... Mary Washington junior Daniel Forjan was the Eagles' top finisher at the 2017 Battleground Relays this weekend. The junior was first in the shot put at 15.33 meters and third in the discus at 41.43 meters. He ranks 13th nationally in the shot put ... Penn State Harrisburg's Cameron Yon placed first in the discus with a throw of 47.47 at the Millersville Metrics. Jalil Clayton earned first-place finishes in the 110 hurdles (15.52) and 400 hurdles (56.80) for the Lions ... Jeffrey McInnis turned in an impressive performance for the maroon and gold this weekend at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary. McInnis captured one of the two first-place finishes for the Sea Gulls, earning a victory in the long jump at 21' 10.75". Eric Halton finished second in the 400 meters at 48.21, moving him into a tie for second nationally in the event ... Southern Virginia's Brandon Shelley placed second in 800-meter (2:02.58) with a personal best at Bobcat Invitational ... Wesley competed at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener. Roland Attoh-Okine won the 110 hurdles at 14.98, which ranks tied for the best time in the Mideast Region. Daquay Harris-Winbush led the Wolverines in the field events, placing fifth in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.90 meters (6-2.75) ... Darien Gray earned a pair of seventh-place finishes in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles at the Millersville Metrics.
