Salisbury senior Connor Hesselbirg was named the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after finishing sixth at the DeSales Invitational on Saturday. Hesselbirg posted a time of 25:55 to lead all CAC runners and help the Sea Gulls place third in the team standings in the 8k race.

Christopher Newport moved up to No. 19 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Week 4 (10/4) Coaches Poll with 144 points ... Five CAC teams - York, Salisbury, Frostburg State, St. Mary's, and Penn State Harrisburg - competed at the DeSales Invitational ... CNU, Mary Washington, and Marymount were idle last week ... For the second-consecutive race, sophomore Robert Romano was Frostburg State's top finisher with a 58th-place finish in 27:25 at DeSales. Frostburg State finished 17th of 38 teams ... St. Mary's junior T.J. McPhaul crossed the finish line first for the Seahawks at the DeSales Invitational, taking 103rd with a time of 28:29 in the 8K race ... Southern Virginia won the Panther Classic hosted by Virginia Union in a field of six team. Freshman Kevin Shelley finished in second place to lead the Knights, crossing in 28:50.3 ... Wesley finished 12th of 21 teams at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial in Philadelphia. Jamier Bailey led the Wolverines with a 33rd-place finish in the 8k ... York nabbed the top team finish among CAC teams at DeSales, finishing second out of 38 teams. Junior Andy MacGibbon led the Spartans with a ninth-place finish at 26:00, a new personal best time. Juniors Alex Smith and Grant Dell finished 10th and 11th, respectively.
