YORK, Pa. -- St. Mary's senior Cara Machlin earned CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week honors for Feb. 2, 2015.

St. Mary's senior Cara Machlin was chosen as the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after pacing the Seahawks with three first-place finishes in a win over Salisbury in their regular-season finale. Trailing 96-92 heading into the final event, Machlin swam the third leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay which locked up the 103-102 victory. She also led a 1-2 finish in the 1,000 freestyle, coming in first with a time of 11:07.59. In addition, Machlin took gold in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.01 as she edged the Sea Gulls' second-place finisher by five-hundredths of a second.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC squads were in action last week in their final tune-ups prior to the CAC Championship meet ... The CAC Championship is set for Feb. 19-21 at the St. Mary's Aquatics Center ... Last week's slate featured four CAC matchups ... Mary Washington finished atop the CAC standings at 5-0 and 9-0 overall, followed by Marymount (5-4, 3-2 CAC), St. Mary's (6-4, 3-2 CAC), Salisbury (4-5, 3-2 CAC), York (5-9, 1-4 CAC) and Frostburg State (3-7, 0-5 CAC) ... Frostburg State's Macey Nitchie totaled four victories on Saturday in a home loss against Marymount ... Mary Washington's Stephanie Hallock won the 50 and 100 freestyle and won a pair of relays as Mary Washington topped York on Saturday... She finished at 25.04 in the 50 and 54.27 in the 100.Marymount's Morgan Alston guided the Saints to a 2-0 weekend with victories over Frostburg State and York, posting five individual first-place finishes and one relay win ... Salisbury's Victoria Radcliffe won the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle vs. St. Mary's, picking up her 13th and 14th victories on the season ... York's Maddy Mann collected four individual wins in meets against Mary Washington and Marymount. Mann concluded her freshman year with 19 individual victories for the 2015-16 season.
