FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- ​Salisbury's Jamie Farley & Penn State Harrisburg's Rae Rae Taylor were honored as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Track & Field Athletes of the Week on April 16, 2019.

Salisbury senior Jamie Farley was exceptional for the maroon and gold at the Eastern Shore Challenge as she garnered three top-five finishes and one new school record as part of the 4x100-meter relay team. In the 4x100-meter relay Farley helped the team of Alicia Meier, Glory Ebinama, and Ashley Luton as well as herself capture a third-place finish but more importantly post a time of 48.42 seconds to break the school record of 48.87 seconds. Individually Farley placed third in the 200-meter dash coming home in 25.77 seconds while finishing first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.74 seconds. This marks the fourth CAC weekly honor for Farley and the fifth for the Sea Gulls.

  

Field Athlete of the Week

Penn State Harrisburg's Rae Rae Taylor turned in a stellar performance in the heptathlon at Kutztown's Mondschein Multi on Thursday afternoon, April 12. The sophomore racked up 4,550 total points in the event; a number good enough to top all competing NCAA Division III athletes and rank second among all competing athletes across all NCAA divisions. Her mark currently ranks her seventh in the nation in the heptathlon. Taylor posted a runner-up finish in the 200m dash and finished third in the shot put, long jump, javelin throw and 800m run. She also added top-five finishes in the 100m hurdles and high jump events. She was the top finishing D-III athlete in all phases of the event. This marks the third CAC honor this season for Taylor and the sixth for the Lions.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

At the Hopkins/Loyola Invite, Mary Washington's Emily Knerr won the 5000 meters at 18:06.52. Erin Andrewlevich also won the 100 meter dash...York's Kelsie Naldrett helped lead the Spartans to a third place finish at the Messiah Invitational on Saturday. Naldrett won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.06. Naldrett also placed third in the 100 meter hurdles as she crossed the line in a time of 15.53. Naldrett added a fifth place finish as a part of the 4x400 relay team. Naldrett's time in the 400 hurdles is the second best time in the CAC this year, just 0.1 second back of the top time. Naldrett's time in the 100 hurdles is also the second best mark in the conference, just 0.16 seconds back of the top time...Christopher Newport's Hannah Bowden posted the top time in the conference in the 100-hurdles during the Eastern Shore Challenge on Saturday at Salisbury. During the race, the senior finished in 15.37, which placed her fourth in the field and first among Division III competitors. Along with her top-ranked effort in the hurdles, she also competed in the long jump and added a 5.02-meter distance. That marked a new season-best and moved her to fourth in the CAC this year...CNU's Sarah Johnson jumped up the national leaderboard and established a new school record in the discus with her performance at the Eastern Shore Challenge on Saturday at Salisbury. During the meet, the senior won the event with a 43.94-meter heave. That effort marked the 11th-best throw in the nation this year and currently stands as the top toss in both the CAC and South / Southeast Region. It also toppled the previous school record of 42.82 meters, which was set by Leigh Trayers in 2004. Along with her historic performance in the discus, Johnson also came in second overall - and first among Division III competitors in the shot put with a 12.07-meter toss...Sallisbury's Kyleigh Dumas was solid at the Eastern Shore Challenge finishing second overall in the pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 12' 3.50." She finished behind a Division I competitor from University of Delaware while beating out four Division III athletes and one other Division I athlete. Her mark currently ranks her 10th in the nation in Division III..York's Katie Krutz had a strong weekend at the Messiah College Invitational on Saturday. She finished second in the pole vault as she cleared a best height of 2.90 meters (9' 6.25"). Krutz was also a part of the 4x400 relay team that finished fifth. Krutz also finished tenth in the long jump with a best leap of 4.61 meters. Krutz owns the fourth best height in the pole vault in the CAC...Southern Virgnia's Baylee Mulitalo collected three first-place finishes at the Wildcat Invitational this past weekend in the hammer (41.76m), shot put (12.58m) and discus (39.34m)...Frostburg's Holly Van Wie reset her own school record in the hammer throw for the second-straight week at the Messiah Invitational ... Van Wie's first heave traveled 44.57 meters (146 feet, 3 inches) to set the program mark, and earned her second-place in the event ... Van Wie added an eighth-place finish in the discus at 33.89 meters (111 feet, 2 inches) and tied for 13th-place finish in the shot put at 10.26 meters (33 feet, 8 inches).
