FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- ​Salisbury's Jamie Farley & Penn State Harrisburg's Rae Rae Taylor were honored as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Track & Field Athletes of the Week on April 9, 2019.

Salisbury senior Jamie Farley was solid start to finish at the Towson Invite for Salisbury as she totaled three top-10 finishes including two top-five finishes. Farley was part of the 4x400-meter relay team that ran into the record books for Salisbury posting a new time in the event of 3:58.47 to finish fifth overall. The time surpasses the previous mark of 3:59.49, which was set back in 2012. Farley also ran with 4x100-meter relay team that finished sixth crossing the finish line in a time of 49.48 seconds. Individually, Farley finished third in the 400-meter dash coming home in 57.35 seconds. 

  

Field Athlete of the Week

Rae Rae Taylor led the way for Penn State Harrisburg's women's team at the 37th Millersville Metrics on Saturday, April 6. The sophomore earned a top-five finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.58 meters and was the highest-finishing Division III athlete in the long jump thanks to a bound of 5.25 meters. Both marks are tops among CAC competitors this season. Elsewhere, she also posted a new program record in the 200m dash with a time of 26.26 seconds.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Mary Washington hosted the Battleground Relays this weekend. On Friday, Jean Woodrum won the women's hammer at 137'5", Victoria Chanthyasak-White won the high jump at 4'9.75". On Saturday,  the women saw the distance medley relay (Knerr, Guzman, Saling, Hughes) take first at 13:07.77, and Erin Andrewlevich won the 400 meters at 57.60. In field events, Yamina James won the pole vault at 10'6", and Jackie Smith won the javelin at 119'3"...York's Olivia Roth had a fantastic day at the Millersville Metrics Meet. Roth set a new school record in the shot put as she finished with a best throw of 38' 9.75" (11.83 meters). That throw was good enough to finish eighth as she was the top Division III thrower in the event. Roth also finished 13 in the discus with a toss of 107' 8" (32.83 meters)...Salisbury's Kyleigh Dumas was exceptional for the Sea Gulls at the Towson Invite picking up a second-place finish in the pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 11' 11.75." Her height is currently good enough for 25th in the nation in Division III while the finish is her second straight top-three finish...Frostburg's Keileen Estrada earned a victory in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 1:09.21, over a second faster than the second-place finisher at the Bobcat Invitational at FSU ... Estrada also finished third in the 100-meter hurdles event with a time of 17.47...York's Amber Strouse was York's top finisher at the Millersville Metrics Meet on Saturday as she placed fourth in the 10K with a time of 41:17.87. She was the second Division III finisher in the event...Christopher Newport's Hannah Bowden took over the conference lead in the 100-hurdles with her performance at the Colonial Relays on Friday. Competing at William & Mary, the senior completed the race in 15.65, which stands as the fastest clocking in the CAC this year by nearly a half second. Along with her work in the hurdles, she also added the top distance by a Division III competitor at the meet in the long jump. She eventually landed a distance of 4.73 meters.
