FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Penn State Harrisburg junior outfielder Bret Williams & Salisbury freshman pitcher Xavier Marmol earned CAC baseball weekly awards for April 15, 2019.

Penn State Harrisburg's Bret Williams helped lead Penn State Harrisburg to a 5-0 week that included three wins at Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) foe Mary Washington, as well as non-conference victories against Keystone and No. 16 Johns Hopkins. In the win over Keystone, the junior hit a pair of home runs, including the game-winning walk-off grand slam, added a double and and racked up eight RBIs. Hew went 4-for-5 with a double and four runs scored in the final contest at UMW on Saturday. On Sunday, he hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the 11th inning of a 10-8 victory at No. 16 JHU; it was the Lions' first win over a nationally-ranked opponent this season . For the week, Williams slashed .440/.517/.880 with an OPS of 1.397, stole two bases, drove in 11 runs and walked three times.

Salisbury's Xavier Marmol recorded a complete game shutout against York College on Saturday afternoon in only the second start of his college career. The freshman allowed only three hits and one walk while striking out three batters to lead the Sea Gulls to a series sweep of the Spartans.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

St. Mary's Dillon Waters started in game one of the series against Frostburg on Saturday (Apr. 13). Waters threw 6.2 innings, allowing just two earned runs and striking out seven batters. He finished the game with a 2.70 ERA and earned the victory on the bump...St. Mary's Andy Collins led the Seahawks from the plate with a .588 batting average, finishing 10-of-17. Collins recorded four RBI, two walks, one double, and one triple. The sophomore led the Seahawks to a 2-0-1 finish against Frostburg this weekend...Salisbury's Justin Meekins started all four games last week for the Sea Gulls and went 7-for-14 (.500) to help lead the team to four straight victories. The junior launched home runs in all three of the contests against York College over the weekend, combining to score seven runs while driving in another five...York's Grant Oberholtzer followed up a stellar week last week with another strong five games this week. Oberholtzer hit .381 while slugging .905 for the week. Oberholtzer had two doubles to go with three home runs and three RBI. He also scored eight runs and stole a pair of bags during a 2-3 week for the Spartans...Mary Washington's Nick Bass batted .357 on the week (5-14), including a three-hit performance against Penn Sate Harrisburg in game two on Saturday...Rain limited the Captains to just one game this week, but Christopher Newport's Nick DiNapoli took advantage of his at-bats against Hampden-Sydney in a blowout victory, falling just a home run shy of the cycle. He reached base in all five plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with two walks, and scored a team record-tying five times in the game. Drove in a season-high four runs with a triple, double, and single before being lifted after two walks. Extended his hitting streak to seven games with his fifth multi-hit game in the roll...Southern Virginia's Bridger Taylor continues to lead the Knights' offense after going 5 for 6 in the win over the Royals. Taylor leads the team in RBIs after this weeks game.
