FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Christopher Newport freshman Dylan Rice and sophomore Scott McAneney swept the CAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week accolades for April 30, 2018.

Christopher Newport freshman Dylan Rice was tabbed as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after posting a game-high six points with five goals and an assist in the Captains' 14-7 victory over Mary Washington in the first round of the CAC Tournament. Rice connected on five of his seven shots for a shooting percentage of 71.4%. Three of his strikes came in the fourth quarter, including his sixth man-up tally of the year. That equals the single-season freshman record at CNU. Saturday's effort also marked his 10th hat-trick of the season, which also stands as the most by a freshman in program history.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Christopher Newport sophomore goalkeeper Scott McAneney collected CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after registering 12 saves in a 14-7 victory over Mary Washington in the first round of the CAC Tournament on Saturday. Four of his saves came in the fourth quarter, including three in the final five minutes. He posted a 63.2% save percentage and also compiled three ground balls in his first career postseason victory. It also marked his third double-digit save effort of the season.

The CAC Tournament began on Saturday, with No. 3 Christopher Newport and No. 4 Frostburg State defending their home fields to advance to Tuesday's semifinals ... The CAC Tournament semifinals are set for Tuesday, with No. 1 York hosting No. 4 Frostburg State and No. 2 Salisbury hosting No. 3 Christopher Newport ... York is ranked No. 2, Salisbury is ranked No. 7, and Christopher Newport is ranked No. 16 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) rankings ... Frostburg State senior Nate Collins scored four goals and handed out two assists as the Bobcats defeated Southern Virginia 14-9 in the CAC Tournament first round on Saturday ... St. Mary's junior goalkeeper Ross Snodderly held No. 7 Salisbury to five first-half goals, including a one-goal second quarter, as Snodderly made seven stops. He finished the night with 11 saves ... Salisbury junior Corey Gwin netted four goals, all coming in the first 35 minutes, of Salisbury's win over St. Mary's last week to clinch the No. 2 seed for the Sea Gulls. Senior Will Nowesnick had three caused turnovers and picked up a pair of groundballs as the Salisbury defense surrendered just four goals to St. Mary's, tied for the second fewest goals the Seahawks have scored this season ... Southern Virginia sophomore Shawn Lamb scored a season-high and career-high-tying six goals in the Knights' win over UMW. Lamb leads the CAC in points (87) and ranks second in both goals (46) and assists (41) ... York junior Hunter Davis led the Spartans to a 20-6 win in their regular season finale at Marymount on Tuesday night. Davis tallied five points on four goals and an assist. For the season, Davis has scored 51 points on 36 goals and 15 assists with six man-up goals.
