YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior Luke Campbell and Frostburg State senior J.R. Lowery were named the CAC Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for March 29, 2016.

Salisbury senior Luke Campbell claimed CAC Track Athlete of the Week honors after taking first place in 110- and 400-meter hurdles at the Goucher Classic. Along with posting the top times in the CAC, he now sits at No. 4 in the country in the 400 hurdles (53.99 seconds) and No. 9 in the 110 hurdles (14.96 seconds).

Frostburg State senior J.R. Lowery was selected as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after opening his outdoor season with a school record and the nation's longest throw in the shot put at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna. Lowery won the shot put with a school-record toss of 17.12 meters (56'-2"), which ranks first in the nation this spring. He followed it up with the country's eighth-longest throw in the hammer at 50.26 meters (164'-11"). That distance placed him in fifth at the meet.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All seven CAC track & field teams have now opened up the 2016 outdoor season ... Christopher Newport's Ryan Scott won four events, including individual titles in the 110-hurdles (15.39) and 200 meters (21.86) at the Commonwealth Duals. His clocking in the 200 ranks seventh in the NCAA so far this year, while his hurdle time is tied for the 18th-fastest in the nation. Additionally, he helped both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays win titles. Jonathan Graham set a new school record in the hammer throw with a 51.10-meter heave, which topped his own school record of 49.26 that he established in 2015 ... Sophomore Daniel Forjan captured a first place for Mary Washington at the Commonwealth Duals at CNU on Saturday, winning the shot put at 13.87 meters ... Michael Milleman picked up a first-place finish for Salisbury at the Goucher Classic in the javelin throw. He posted a personal-record distance of 159'-11", which ranks No. 1 in the CAC ... Wesley began its spring season by hosting the program's first official track meet - the Wesley Wolverine Early Bird Meet. The meet was used as an intrasquad competition, but all results were official ... York senior Alex Palescandolo won the shot put at the 2016 Spartan Invitational on Wednesday with a school-record mark of 15.01 meters (49'-3"). Palescandolo's mark broke the school record of 47'-2" which was established in 1977. Darnell Tillman won the 100-meter dash (11.25) and the 400-meter dash (50.49) at the Spartan Invitational. Tillman has now won the 100 in both of the Spartans' outdoor meets this year while he has one win in the 400 and one win in the 200.
