YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport junior Logan Harrington and Mary Washington senior Taylor Cockerille were tabbed as the CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for Feb. 9, 2016.

Christopher Newport junior Logan Harrington nabbed her second straight and third overall CAC Track Athlete of the Week award after breaking her third conference record in just over a week. Harrington raced to a time of 5:05.67 in the mile at the Vince Brown Invitational on Saturday at the Freeman Center, shaving over a full second off former teammate Jessica McClelland's previous league record of 5:06.73 set in 2014. Harrington's performance eventually placed her second overall at the meet and marked the second-fastest clocking in CNU history. Her time ranks 26th in the nation this year.

Mary Washington senior Taylor Cockerille secured CAC Field Athlete of the Week honors after setting the UMW school record in the shot put at the Vince Brown Invitational. Cockerille registered a throw of 41'-8", finishing second in the meet. Her mark ranks atop the CAC this indoor season and 25th in Division III.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC teams competed last week ... The CAC Championship is less than two weeks away, set for Sunday, Feb. 21 at Christopher Newport ... Frostburg State sophomore Kayla Truesdel placed third in the 60-meter dash with an ECAC-qualifying time of 7.93 at the Crusader Challenge at Susquehanna ... Mary Washington's Elysa Baker and Sheree Turner both set school records in the weight throw at the Vince Brown Invitational, finishing third and fourth ... Meghan McGowan led the way for Salisbury in the field events at the Vince Brown Invitational, taking third in the high jump with a top leap of 5'-4.25". Chanel Beaudoin placed in the top 10 of two events, taking fourth in the 400-meter dash in a personal-best 1:00.66, before finishing seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.64 seconds ... Wesley earned a second-place finish at the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus. The Navy and White shined in the sprints and speed relay events, winning the 60m, 200m, 4x200 and the 4x400. Jourdyn Beverly also took first in the shot put for the Wolverines. Wesley will compete in one more meet this weekend at the Oceanbreeze Track in Staten Island, N.Y. before heading to the CAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 21 ... York freshman Jada Griffin-Howard placed eighth in the 400 meters (1:03.88) and was part of the 4x400 relay that finished seventh (4:19.70) at the Crusader Challenge on Saturday.
