FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- Salisbury freshman Kate Sigman and sophomore Kyleigh Dumas swept the CAC Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards for March 20, 2018.  


Track Athlete of the Week

Salisbury freshman Kate Sigman received CAC Track Athlete of the Week accolades after recording a mile time of 5:20.96 at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational last week. When converted to a 1500 time, Sigman's mark of 4:57.20 ranks atop the CAC and 38th nationally so far this outdoor season. 

 

Field Athlete of the Week

Salisbury sophomore Kyleigh Dumas was selected as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this year after setting a new school record in the pole vault at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Dumas cleared a height of 11'-5.75" to break the previous school record of 11'-2.50 set by Sarah Taylor in 2015. Her mark ranks first in the CAC and tied for third in Division III this outdoor season.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport sophomore Samantha Dickerson moved to eighth on the program's all-time performance list in the 5000 after posting a time of 18:34.97 during the Tribe Invitational on Saturday. That clocking placed her fourth overall at the meet and first among Division III competitors ... Mary Washington sophomore Erin Andrewlevich started her spring by winning the 200 and 400 meters at the UMW Opener. She ran the 200 at 26.58 and the 400 at 1:00.47. Freshman Jackie Smith won the javelin at the UMW opener on Saturday, throwing to a distance of 113 feet, 7.75 inches. Sam Gorton won the hammer with a throw of 149 feet, 3.25 inches, and Jean Woodrum won the discus at 115 feet, 3 inches ... Southern Virginia freshman Kyra Hale placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at the Washington & Lee Carnival with a time of 16.60. Also finished top-ten in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.62. Freshman Jesstine Creer took third in the javelin with a throw of 30.10 meters.
