YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington junior Emma Olson was named the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 27, 2015.

Mary Washington junior Emma Olson was named the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season after nearly posting two triple-doubles in a 3-0 week for the Eagles that included a pair of key CAC victories. In a 3-1 win over St. Mary's to begin the week, Olson registered nine kills, 41 assists, 13 digs and three block assists. On Saturday against Marymount, she posted nine kills, 48 assists and 19 digs, once again coming just one kill shy of a triple-double in a 3-2 victory. She then closed out the week with six kills, 36 assists and eight digs in a 3-0 victory over Lynchburg. She hit .300 for the week, scoring 28 points in the three matches.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

With two conference games remaining, Christopher Newport (7-0) is in first place, followed by Salisbury (6-1), Mary Washington (5-2), Marymount (5-2), St. Mary's (4-3), Frostburg State (3-4) and York (3-4) all in the hunt for playoff spots ... Christopher Newport is ranked No. 2 and Mary Washington is No. 4 in the Oct. 22 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Rankings ... CNU is No. 5 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Week 7 Top-25, released last Tuesday. UMW was just outside the top-25 of the AVCA poll, receiving 7 votes ... Frostburg State sophomore Naya Cheatem smacked 58 kills and averaged 4.46 kills per set over a three-match week for the Bobcats as they went 2-1. In a 3-2 win over York, Cheatem posted 23 kills, hit .333 with seven digs and seven blocks ... Marymount junior Cailyn Thomas helped the Saints to a 2-1 record last week, averaging 1.8 blocks and 2.3 kills per set ... Katie Stouffer led Salisbury to two wins in a tri-match with Frostburg State and Alvernia. Stouffer tied for the sixth-most kills in a match in program history and the most kills in a match in program history for a four-set match with 29 against Frostburg State. She added a team-high 19 kills against Alvernia, giving her 48 total kills for the weekend, which moved her to fifth all-time in program history with 1,220 career kills. She posted a .616 hitting percentage for the week.
