Five To Be Added To Frostburg State Athletics Hall Of Fame
Frostburg State University has announced that five members will
make up the 2013 Bobcat Hall of Fame class that will be inducted at
the annual dinner and ceremony on Friday, October 25, 2013, as part
of Leadership and Homecoming Weekend festivities.
The Bobcat Hall of Fame has now reached 180 members and 2013 marks
the fifth-straight year with five inductees. Furthermore, the 2013
class is represented by five different varsity sports, the first
time since the class of 2006 that a sport hasn't been represented
twice.
Kim Faust, the 176th inductee, was an award-winning and two-sport
standout for the Frostburg State women's basketball and field
hockey teams from 1999-2003.
Faust was a two-time d3hoops.com All-Region selection and a
three-time First Team All-AMCC honoree as a member of the women's
basketball team. She was a two-time Eastern College Athletic
Conference (ECAC) All-Star, named AMCC Player of the Year as a
sophomore and finished her career fifth all-time in scoring (1,624
pts.).
As a member of the field hockey team, Faust was a two-time South
Region First Team All-American and is FSU's single-season scoring
record holder in both goals (23) and points (54).
Steve Forsythe, the 177th inductee, was a wide receiver for the
Bobcat football program and was a 1982 American Football Coaches
Association (AFCA) Kodak All-American. Forsythe, the second
All-American in the program's history, is 12th all-time in both
career receptions (86) and receiving yards (1,339).
Forsythe led the team in both categories as a junior and senior,
while posting career highs in receptions (59), yards (773) and
touchdowns (4) in his final year as a Bobcat.
Susan Mahoney, the 178th inductee, was a three-time All-American
for the FSU swimming and diving programs from 1984-87. She holds
six school records, three individual and three as a member of relay
teams.
Just a three-year member of the swimming and diving team, Mahoney
was voted the Most Outstanding Swimmer in her first year and was
named the Most Valuable Swimmer in her final season. As a senior,
she helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a seventh-place
finish at the NCAA Championships.
Donny Woodard, the 179th inductee, was a four-year starter and is
one of the top scorers in the 71-year history of the Frostburg
State men's basketball program. Woodard is third in school history
in scoring (1,719 pts.) and is first all-time in career
three-pointers (200), second in steals (180) and fifth in field
goals (632).
Woodard, who started 93 of 106 career games, poured in 537 points
as a junior in 1992-93 and earned First Team All-Eastern States
Athletic Conference (ESAC) honors. During his career, Woodard
helped lead Frostburg to 54 wins and a pair of appearances in the
ECAC South Region Finals.
Leonard Wright, the 180th inductee, is one of the most highly
decorated sprinters in the historic Frostburg track & field
program, despite running for just two years. Wright is a six-time
All-American and was a member of both the 1986 and 1987 4x100-meter
relay National Championship teams. Wright helped the 1986
4x100-meter relay team set a NCAA national meet record of 40.39, a
mark that lasted for nearly 15 years until 2000.
Wright, a seven-time All-Mason Dixon Conference selection, helped
Frostburg State win the 1986 and 1987 NCAA Division III Outdoor
National Championship trophies.
