FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – York men's basketball senior forward Dalton Myers (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) was honored by the Capital Athletic Conference athletic directors as the 2017-18 Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 

A graduate student in 2017-18, Myers completed his undergraduate work last spring and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.73 cumulative grade point average as a biology major and psychology minor. In the masters of business administration program this year, Myers posted a 3.75 GPA. He was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team this season, is a an eight-time member of the York College Dean's List and four-time CAC All-Academic selection. Myers was also a finalist for the prestigious Jostens Award, which honors top Division III basketball players based on playing ability, academic prowess, and community service.  

Off the court, Myers has served as a Special Olympics coach each of the last three years and represents the York men's basketball team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He has also served as a camp counselor at the York men's basketball camp each of the last four years. In his hometown of Westminster, Md., he is a participant at St. John's Church's Christmas Angel program that provides gifts for under-served children. 

Myers completed a stellar career this past winter by helping lead the Spartans to the CAC men's basketball title and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He was a two-time first-team All-CAC selection (2018 & 2016), earned All-Region accolades from both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3hoops.com, and played in the Reese's Senior All-Star game during Final Four weekend in Salem, Va. 

He compiled impressive statistics throughout his career, totaling 1,499 career points over 104 games while shooting 53.7% from the field. He notched 522 career rebounds, 92 blocked shots and 154 assists. In 2017-18, he ranked fourth in the CAC in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage, sixth in free throw percentage and ninth in three-point field goal percentage. He was also named to a pair of in-season All-Tournament teams at Scranton and Washington & Lee. 

Myers is the sixth York male student-athlete to receive the CAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Other award winners from York include Aaron Myers (1998, baseball), Brandon Bushey (2005 & 2006, basketball), Chris Brower (2007, baseball), and Tyler Hutson (2015, lacrosse). 

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a senior with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average, demonstrate athletic success and be a major contributor to his program.
