Mary Washington Seniors Kathleen Namey, Carlee Budd and Christopher Newport Freshman Brittan Muir Earn CAC Field Hockey Weekly Accolades
YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington seniors Kathleen Namey and Carlee Budd and Christopher Newport freshman Brittan Muir were selected as the CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week for Oct. 26, 2015.

Mary Washington senior Kathleen Namey was chosen as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring both goals in the Eagles 2-1 victory over No. 5 Salisbury on Saturday. Namey's first goal came in the 13th minute to give UMW the early lead, while she buried the game-winner with less than eight minutes remaining. Namey has 14 goals and five assists on the season.

Christopher Newport freshman Brittan Muir was selected as the CAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the Captains' defense to a trio of victories last week, including a pair of wins over top-20 opponents. Against No. 18 Catholic, she helped lead a defense that allowed just six shots to the Cardinals, which equaled CUA's lowest total in a game since 2010. Two days later, she helped lift CNU past No. 13 Mary Washington, 2-1. Against the Eagles, she paced a stout defensive unit which kept UMW scoreless on its 13 penalty corner attempts while allowing just nine total shots during the game. On Saturday against Frostburg State, she helped the defensive corner unit shut down all seven of the Bobcats' attempts. Overall, Muir played all 210 minutes during the week and led a defense that did not allow a goal on 25 penalty corner attempts while also chipping in with a game-winning goal and assisting on another clinching strike.

Mary Washington senior Carlee Budd was named the CAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high four defensive saves in the Eagles' 2-1 win over Salisbury on Saturday. Two of Budd's defensive saves came after the final horn sounded on penalty corner shots to keep the Eagles ahead in the one-goal victory. The four defensive saves were one shy of tying the CAC single-game record.

In the Oct. 21 NCAA South Region rankings, Salisbury is No. 1 and Mary Washington is No. 5 ... Salisbury is ranked No. 5 in the Penn Monto / National Field Hockey Coaches Association Oct. 20 National Rankings, while Mary Washington is No. 13 and Christopher Newport is No. 14 ... Alexandra Darrow scored two goals and handed out one assist in Frostburg State's 4-3 loss to York ... Salisbury's Becca Rinaca scored the game-winner in a CAC win over St. Mary's. She also put home the game-tying goal against Mary Washington on Saturday for her 10th score of the year ... Wesley's Renee Schneider tallied two goals and an assist last week. York's Lindsay Nye helped the Spartans lock up the No. 4 seed in the CAC Tournament with three goals and two assists last week in wins over Frostburg State and Wesley. Nye scored a career-high three goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-3 triumph over Frostburg State, before registering two assists in an 8-2 victory over Wesley. For the season, Nye is second on the team in scoring with 27 points on 12 goals and three assists. She has a team-leading four game-winning goals.
