YORK, Pa. --  Christopher Newport junior Grayson Reid was selected as the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Oct. 18, 2016.

Christopher Newport junior Grayson Reid was selected as the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning the CNU Invitational with a time of 25:21. That clocking in the 8k marked the fastest by any competitor at the meet, beating the 18 Division I competitors as well as all 40 runners in the non-Division I portion of the race. Guided by Reid's efforts, the Captains  won the meet with a perfect score of 15.

Christopher Newport remained at No. 19 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Week 4 (10/12) Coaches Poll with 136 points ... The CAC Championship is set for Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Hershey Entertainment Complex in Hershey, Pa., with Penn State Harrisburg as the host institution ... All 10 CAC squads have completed their fall regular seasons, and will be idle this week in preparation for the conference meet ... Frostburg State sophomore Robert Romano led the Bobcats to a third-place finish of 14 teams at the 2016 Hood College XC Open. Romano earned medalist honors after finishing in 13th place in 27:09. He has been Frostburg State's top finisher for the last three meets ... Mary Washington sophomore J.P. Burklow finished sixth overall at the Gettysburg Invitational, at 26:16, as the Eagles finished sixth among 26 schools competing ... Marymount junior Joel Juarez was the lone finisher for the Saints' men's team at the Gettysburg Invitational, finishing the 8k event in 45th place in a time of 27:25 ... St. Mary's senior Eric Ortiz was the first Seahawk to cross the finish line on Saturday at the Hood Invitational. Ortiz placed 25th with a time of 27:53 to assist St. Mary's in their 6th-place team finish out of 14 teams ... Salisbury's Billy Kirk was the Sea Gulls' top finisher and placed fourth overall at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, helping the Sea Gulls capture the team victory. Kirk posted a time 26:09.5 finishing just 13 seconds behind the third-place finisher and was the only Sea Gull runner to place in the top five ... Southern Virginia's Kevin Shelley ran a 28:26 at the Gettysburg Invitational as the Knights finished 18th in the team standings ... York junior Grant Dell led the Spartans at the Connecticut College Invitational in Waterford, Conn., placing 23rd individually with a time of 25:38.1. The Spartans finished eighth of 20 teams with 172 points.
