FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- York senior Blayde Reich was tabbed as the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 2, 2017.

York senior Blayde Reich was tabbed as the CAC Player of the Week after earning MVP honors at the Washington & Lee Holiday Tournament with averages of 29.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game in overtime wins against No. 2 Middlebury and Washington & Lee. Reich began the tournament with 15 points and 10 rebounds in an upset win over Middlebury, adding three steals and two blocks. Reich's top performance came in the championship game, as he poured in a career-highs of 44 points and 19 rebounds along with four assists to help the Spartans overcome an 18-point deficit en route to a 118-110 overtime title-game win over the host Generals. His 44 points is tied for second on the Spartans' single-game scoring list while the 19 rebounds are three short of the school record of 22. His 44 points and 19 boards are also the top scoring and rebounding performances in the CAC this season. He shot 16-for-23 from the floor, 3-for-5 from three-point range and 9-for-12 from the free throw line in the championship game. For the week, Reich shot 60% (21-of-35) from the floor while also adding 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per contest.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All 10 CAC teams competed last week, with several taking part in holiday tournaments ... York is ranked No. 25 in the D3hoops.com national rankings ... Christopher Newport is one of 19 teams receiving votes in the D3hoops.com week 4 poll ... York is the lone remaining unbeaten in the CAC at 11-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The Spartans are now 11-0 for the first time in the 49-year history of the men's basketball program ... CNU senior Aaron McFarland was named the MVP of the Captains Shootout after leading CNU to two victories in the holiday classic over Shenandoah and Johns Hopkins. McFarland, who has moved up to 19th on CNU's all-time scoring list with 1241 career points, posted a team-high 25 vs. Shenandoah and led his team in rebounds with nine vs. Johns Hopkins. Christopher Newport is now 9-2 after winning the two-day tournament for the 15th time in 21 years of play ... Sophomore Daniel Alexander totaled 37 points and led Frostburg State in scoring in both games of the Randolph-Macon Coaches Tournament over the weekend ... Guard Mark Madison led Mary Washington with 21 points as the Eagles defeated Va. Wesleyan, 87-78, on Saturday. Four Eagles reached double figures as they improved to 8-3 ... Darick Kerns paced St. Mary's at Greensboro with his second career double-double on a career-best 21 points and 11 rebounds. Twelve of Kerns' 21 points came in the second half, including the game-tying basket with 15 seconds remaining in regulation. He made a career-best 10 field goals while adding a career-high two assists ... Chad Barcikowski helped Salisbury capture the Tourament of Heroes championship at College of Staten Island over the holiday weekend. Barcikowski totaled 49 points including a season-high 29 against the host Dolphins on day one of the tournament. He finished the weekend almost 60 percent from the field and almost 65 percent from three-point range. For his efforts he was named to the all-tournament team and garner MVP honors ... Southern Virginia junior Kellen Winslow recorded a career-high 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc (62.5%) to spur the Knights past McDaniel on Saturday ... Wesley sophomore Brian Cameron netted 22 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, including knocking down 3-of-4 three-pointers and going 7-for-8 from the free-throw line in Wesley's 88-78 win over CCNY. Cameron also pulled down six rebounds and handed out five assists. Cameron has recorded double-digit points in 10 of the 11 games this season for the Wolverines.
