FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- Marymount sophomore Hayley Elizondo earned CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week accolades for Jan. 23, 2018.

Marymount sophomore Hayley Elizondo earned CAC Athlete of the Week accolades after collecting four first-place finishes and one second-place mark in her five individual races last week. Against Mary Washington, Elizondo placed first in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.67), 100 individual medley (1:02.62), and took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.00). Her 100 IM time ranks first in the CAC and 38th nationally. In a victory over Salisbury on Saturday, she posted victories in the 50 freestyle (28.84), 100 breaststroke (1:16.62) and the 200 medley relay (2:11.93).

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC swimming teams competed last week ... Mary Washington and York both remain unbeaten in CAC dual meets at 3-0 ... Frostburg State senior Macey Nitchie swept her individual races as she took home first-place in the 50 (25.14), 100 (54.00), and 200-yard freestyles (1:57.05) in a loss at York. She has swept her individual events in seven of eight meets this year ... Mary Washington freshman Claudia Keller had two standout performances last week, as Mary Washington won CAC meets over Marymount and St. Mary's. In the Eagles' 197-62 win over the Seahawks, Keller won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:21.87, as well as the 400 IM at 4:48.64. In UMW's 193-44 win over Marymount, Keller won the 1000 freestyle at 10:56.28, as well as the 200 backstroke at 2:11.46.In all, she clamed two distance races, a backstroke, and an IM ... St. Mary's freshman Anna LaPoint took first in 1,000 freestyle against Mary Washington with a time of 11:20.60 and also nabbed a second place finish in the 500 freestyle at 5:31.87 ... Salisbury sophomore Emma Tarnosky earned an individual first-place finish against Marymount on Saturday afternoon in the 100-meter backstroke, with a time of 1:09.59. She also was a member of the 200-meter medley relay team that finished first, with a time of 2:16.64.
