FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Monica Lannen and junior Sarah Johnson swept the CAC Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards for March 27, 2018.

Christopher Newport sophomore Monica Lannen collected CAC Track Athlete of the Week accolades after winning the 1500 and taking second in the 800 at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational on Friday at Lynchburg. She crossed in the 1500 in 4:45.35, which ranks sixth in program history, 1st in the CAC and 25th in the NCAA this year. She completed the 800 with a time of 2:18.51, which ranks first in the CAC and 14th in the NCAA this year.

Christopher Newport junior Sarah Johnson was named the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after winning the discus at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational on Friday at Lynchburg. Johnson grabbed first with a heave of 40.41 meters, which ranks atop the CAC and 10th in the nation this spring. It also ranks as the third-best effort in CNU program history.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Frostburg State senior Zoe Harris kicked off the outdoor campaign with a win in the javelin (34.49 meters) as the Bobcats competed at the Bobcat Classic at West Virginia Wesleyan ... Mary Washington sophomore Erin Andrewlevich finished second in the 400 meters at the Mount Olive Trojan Invitational at 59.73 seconds, and took fourth in the 200 meters as well ... Southern Virginia freshman Mesi Havea placed third in shot put (11.52m) and second in the discus (38.38m) at the Dr. Jack Tom's Invitational. Havea's discus mark ranks second in the CAC and 22nd nationally. Sophomore Clarissa Barton finished the 5,000m in 18:43.14, which ranks second in the CAC.
